I have a question about an engine code P072b. Ford put a new TCM in and I put new actuators in and it still hasn’t fixed the problem. I still don’t have reverse. Just curious if you ever had this problem

I noticed on your dash that you are maintaining speed around 2k rpm to 2.5krpm, mine in drive mode wants to maintain on 1.3k-1.5k rpm which is a bit low around 50mph, that's why I always use S mode and manually shift my gear always, another question, when im on a uphill on S mode, when I floor my gas on a uphill my rpm pushes around up to 3k to 4k rpm but my clutches feels jerky, like engage and re-engaging my clutch all the time thank you as always

@@BigBensCarsAndCycles no fault codes, around 2krpm is smooth and stable... But when on high rpm like 5k rpm on uphill same gear it feels like the clutch is intermittent

Really appreciate and have devoured nearly all of your Focus videos because my wife drives a '15. Question please, unrelated to this video, re '05 Taurus 2V, approaching 69,000 miles: When idling, tach shows uneven rpm. Have cleaned throttle body and IAC, and replaced CPS, all to no avail. Suggested next step? Thank you.

Thanks for watching! You can download forscan on a laptop, then monitor for a lazy upstream o2. They should be switching fairly quickly. Then check egr flow if possible. Clean the maf

I’ve ran into this code intermittently. One thing I’ve noticed for my situation is that if I fill up the tank with E85 the code goes away. My 2014 focus is flex fuel of course, not sure if they all are.. but anyway, on my car once the corn gas is ran though and I switch back to regular 87 octane the code returns eventually

I used to fill up my tank with 87, with e85 runs smoothly and I feels to have more power also e85 burns cleaner so that's why the code is no longer showing I will just keep using this fuel

My hypothesis is that as flex fuel the car was designed to run 50 50 ethanol and gas so they added less catalyst material in the converter that's why it tends to fail when using just 87 with just 140k miles

Does the spacer actually work without messing anything else up? Ford strongly advised against it saying it would cause the engine to dump more fuel into the motor cause it’s no longer reading correctly. I just want the light to go away

Don't space the upstream, only the downstream. Then you won't have issues

The second 02 is only checking the cats efficiency, that's it. The upstream (first O2) is the one responsible for fuel ratio. The spacer on the after cat O2 will NOT harm anything else. I put one on my 2006 Focus that didn't even have a cat on it and it went away.

I've got this code right now... my 2014 focus is at 157k and I want to get this one to 250k. I think a bad purge valve caused it but i have one on the way. I'm fine with using the spacer instead of dropping $1000 into it. I would rather use that for new brakes and tires right now. So my question is... will using a spacer ultimately cause my car not to run as well? I still want to be aware of potential engine problems that would cause that code so i can fix them. amateur here but i think i could put a new cat in.... just dont wanna lol

Hi! The spacer won't hurt the engine. I would use a spacer until you get p0420 again, then replace the cat. The spacer could keep the light off for years

The car will run fine and it won't affect anything else. The fix is good so your light is off that way you'll know when there is an actual problem.

I have a Ford focus 2013 2.0 GDI and I notice sometimes when I change from first gear to second it feels like it doesn't want to "go in" into second despite the gear been put in to second gear...is it clutch? Took it into Ford, Ford says gearbox and engine mountings are worn... Also they say my CAT is glogged etc...

@carlosc6799 it's possible it's the clutch or hydraulics if they're not fully releasing the clutch. But from experience I think it's probable the 2nd gear rings are showing signs of wear. You can service the transmission fluid with ac Delco friction modified syncromesh and see what happens

I bet you will be very happily surprised! Hey, I bet you could try out that cold air intake you got for the Focus, in the Fiesta! I'd love to hear what it sounds like, compared to my K&M stock box filter. Mine isn't super quiet, but I think that boxless filter design you keep using, is going to be a bit louder than my setup, being unenclosed. It'll I bet sound more similar to when I ran my lid off around town once, so I could listen to the engine better for a few minutes. 😁@@BigBensCarsAndCycles

Mine is getting around three MPG less with the light on. I'm hoping the spacers will help for quite a while until I have to buy a new cat, I was looking at a cheap cat, but if it's going to come back in 6 to 8 months then that's not really that worth it.
