ZenzDeluxe tell him not to bother, the car is massively overhyped. If I were to do it again I’d consider a mapped R or A45 AMG over an RS. Or if he can stomach the look of it the FK8; if it drives as well as the FK2 it should be a superb car, the FK2 was the best I drove in terms of driver engagement but the ride was cripplingly hard. Huge boot, fantastic gearbox and engine in it, and old school turbo power delivery means it feels faster and is great fun on the road. In The ride is hopelessly firm with the shell seats to the point of pain on long journeys. Boot space is ridiculously small and the build quality is shite. Exhaust flap started to stick after 5 months meaning you couldn’t change drive modes, exhaust noise is disappointing and repeatedly farts and pops to the driver’s embarrassment. Seats and door cards are alright but dash switchgear looks cheap. Oh and the car’s “EPAS” system tries to kill you repeatedly when you drive in straight lines at high speed... Customer service is hopeless too, it took over a year for Ford to acknowledge the HG problem which meant the engine was potentially a ticking time bomb. Dealers struggled just to perform a stereo upgrade 🙄 No confidence in them, I would never buy new from Ford again. I also have an old Puma that I track and that’s a terrifically fun car but again some crap design features like - no drain plug for gearbox oil 🙄 After selling mine I tried a few of the German super saloons as I came from 11 years of Impreza ownership, and then an e92 M3. Ended up in a 5 year old C63 AMG, same monthly repayment and price as the RS, but wow what a car!

LoL, the RS focus is a joke. Over weight, under powered, because overboost isn't its real hp power, it's 324 hp. And Ford is to chicken shit to test the RS on tne Ring or anyother track. The new Civic Type R will rape a Focus RS on any track. And ,based on tne latest testing, tne Civic blows the doors off a RS above 70 mph. And handles way better than any Ford except the Ford GT supercar and GT350-R... Don't waste your $$ on a Focus RS.

What drive mode and damper setting are you using? I am most impressed by your driving. It appears to be Sport mode with normal damper setting. I’d imagine this is best for the ‘Ring. Maybe stiff damper setting with Sport would be better? Track mode, producing more oversteer is best for shorter tracks/lower speeds?

You hate oversteer and modulation on power, ability to rotate the car on turn-in? What a joke. Yep, the Type R is faster, mainly because it's lighter, and it's boring af. Have fun with FWD and understeer, at least you'll be "fast" right? (unless it's raining like in this footage lol)

There's a difference between modulation on power and ability to rotate, and a car that just keeps oversteering and then artificially prevents it from going over the top with electronics, like this does in that stupid "drift mode", and even does it with ESP "turned off". A well set up car turns in sharply and rotates well, but the rear end feels totally planted, but that's hard to achieve in a primarily FWD car that has over 60% weight on front wheels. Ever driven a well set up track car or a race car? That's how they feel, planted, balanced, no oversteer or understeer, usually just a hint of understeer on the limit unless you provoke oversteer. Oversteer should only come when you provoke the car, not during a regular turn in at race speed. That's what gives you the confidence to really push the car and that's what ultimately far more fun than a car that tries to drive like in a way it really can't, because it's physically not capable of doing it. I'd rather have a hot hatch that's well set up FWD than an artificially oversteery AWD. You NEVER want a car to snap into oversteer unpredictably, especially not at very high speeds like 200 km/h like this one does, at a spot where most cars go through without a hint of oversteer or understeer at that speed.

Please drive this car in person, on track (IN TRACK MODE WHERE THE DIFF IS SET FOR GRIP), before writing blatant garbage ever again. I won't be a keyboard race jockey and claim i'm a race pilot / automotive engineer and god knows what else the standard is in these comment sections overflown with borderline retarded analogies and bloated ego's. But i have driven THIS car on track and on the limit. You're associating characteristics to the car, judging it by this video, while it is CLEARLY being agitated all the time to test the limits, both with agressive turn in, AND occasionally full throttle to provoke oversteer. All in a setup setting that is designed to be still "playfull" (the SPORT setting). Most of what you wrote is correct, and you are in the right by calling this car front-heavy and heavy in general, but don't go overboard and call this car an unstable piece of trash with artifically induced oversteer across the board and in every condition (which is basically the impression you were trying to give about the car). This car can be driven clean, planted, stable and fast, inspiring a lot of confidence while doing so. If you ever get the chance, drive it.
