This was the best review I've seen on the Focus ST diesel. Bonus: now I know what to tell my wife. Actually thinking of buying one, the estate version. I believe it to be one of the best all-rounders in the used market. Congrats on the great video. 😃

I had a Focus ST Diesel. Good, capable car, I won't lie... Loved the economy on it (could daily it without breaking the bank). I did however get a bit bored of it after a year (I wanted a bit more grunt) so traded up to an RS (which of course is in a different league). I do still miss the ST from time to time though and wish I could have kept it alongside the RS to use as a daily. Great review.

Ive got one on a 67 plate....was going to go for another Octavia vrs but thought id have a change..... Very nice motor, not as nippy as the skoda but feels a more compact drive and the cockpit is put together better. Tech is better than the vrs , though sports mode on the ST doesnt seem to do much ?

If Ford isn't paying you... they should :)) I'm sure you sold at least a dozen of diesel STs with this video. Well done.
@redpandapowa2 жыл бұрын
A little bit of tuning and that focus could probably outdo the petrol version. A good rule of thumb is that if a petrol has 140 hp, than the diesel must at least have 100 to be equal.

The best feature for me is the seats(recaro buckets) followed by front end. Worst feature is a thief can steal it quicker then a hay-fever sneeze if you don't buy additional security. The dealer never mentioned that part
@crazyforiegner22 жыл бұрын
Why is it easily stolen ?

@@crazyforiegner2 key less entry signals can be hijacked so they can get into the car and start it. Need a wheel lock or wheel clamp to further oddest offset this. Not just a Ford problem

Another great review man! Quick question do you miss the 1.9 Diesel Alfa Romeo 159 you had and what were your reasons for getting rid of it?
@CarFilms5 жыл бұрын
liam bolger yes - one of the best cars I had. It was getting high mileage and I do a lot of miles, so would probably have started to cost me a lot to run. Just basic economics really.

The ST TDCI is all fur coat and no knickers. The engine noise might sound similar inside to that of the petrol version, however from the outside it's disappointing. A couple of months ago I noticed a neighbour had a Focus ST of this vintage, however when he started it up I was sorely disappointed that it was a diesel. I like the torque that a largish diesel exhibits, especially in the mid range, but an ST needs to be petrol. Each to their own I suppose.

Mines faster than a petrol!
@Rapscallion20093 жыл бұрын
Well, the petrol is definitely lighter and more powerful (stock). But if you do 20,000 miles a year then the cost difference between 30mpg and 40mpg is significant. That's really who these things are aimed at - company car drivers with a sense of humour.
