@ScottTheCarTech7 жыл бұрын
+Jessica McGloin The one with the sensor has wires plugged into it on the driver side. I would try looking at it with a flashlight. If you don't see any wires plugged it takes the one without the sensor

I just replaced my thermostat without removing any other parts . Only disconnected the two wires harnesses that where in the way. Small 1/4 inch ratchet and 6 inch extension , a pair of small needle nose vise grips for the hose clamps and some elbow grease that's it . Took me 45 min start to finish.

Tried this on my 2005 Focus and it ended in disaster. I was able to get 2/4 bolts out, but I couldn't even get close to fitting a pliers for the clamps in that small space; let alone well enough to have any kind of good grip. I would definitely recommend just taking the headlight off and going through there. It's not a super easy job, but that's the easiest it's going to get.

@@henryb.7723 This exact same thing happened to me. I got the three bolts out of there and I had nothing to get at the fourth bolt because there's some kind of hose fitting in the way and it's non-movable. I wasn't about to go through the whole process of taking out the light either. This'll be one of the rare times that I actually will take my car into a shop and let them deal with it. 😑

2009 ford focus. Took me 1 1/2 hours to do. Quality lube wanted $750. $250 for part and $500 for labor. Bought the part for $28 and did the labor myself. Good video. The only parts I would comment on are the choice of thermostat: get a Motorcraft thermostat they don't cost much more and are better in quality to most of the aftermarket brands. You are taking a lot of trouble to get in there so you don't want to repeat the repair over and over. Put an OEM thermostat in there it's worth it. Also, these engines use Motorcraft "gold" coolant. Use either Motorcraft "gold" coolant OR Valvoline Zerez G05 coolant those two are the best ones for this engine. Don't use the green stuff. Also changing out your hoses would not be a bad idea if you have high miles on your car. Since you are already in there might as well put new hoses in too, now you don't have to jack with anything for years.

Alternator's a pain for sure. You unbolt the lower rear motor mount and there's one specific way that the alternator comes out through the bottom, one specific orientation. Before you find the way, you want to destroy everything. After you find the way, it's in and out no problem.

Replacing the cylinder head temperature sensor cleared the P0128 code for me.
@iixxion8 ай бұрын
On a car that old, 9 times out of 10 it's gonna be a bad thermostat. The only way to know what's broken is to take the parts off and test them or just replace them. The thermostat is under 40 dollars and is a good starting point, since they wear out eventually anyway. It is a metal spring that expands and contracts based on temperature, and over the course of ten years its ability to expand and contract properly will be severely reduced.
