Welcome back. Long time fan. Even before I knew you had a KZbin channel, I remember you from the Saturn forum... you actually were my hero when I bought my first used Saturn. Love the videos. Keep them coming. Stay healthy my friend!

Richpin is the man. I bought a $600 Saturn 170k miles back in 2008... his videos kept that Saturn alive for 5 years until the piston rings wore out. He helped make that car the best vehicle investment I’ve made in my life.

Well this certainly shows me how to change one out, but you're gonna have to post a motivation video to go with his one because it looks like its pretty frustrating for someone who's never done it lol

Terrific video. Next time, you can loosen the water pump bolts with the belt still on.
@nasonguy3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Always worth giving it a try before taking off the serp. Just crack the bolts loose, nothing more than that. Kinda like cracking the lugnuts loose on a wheel before jacking it up. Just 1/4 turn, no more.

What size was the ratchet wrench to remove the pulley hub bolts?

It was a 10mm

How long did this whole process take you. I bought a new idler and tensioner as well. Figured since I was down there might as well replace everything that rotates so I didn't have to do it down the road.

Hey Rich. I never heard back from you? I've been waiting for your reply to getter done. I was taking about using the old EVO solenoid, and puting on the one the new pump? Is that possible? And same with the old Reservoir? Do they have a filter inside them?

I did allot to my 2007 Focus this year and I'm going to handle this next, the only suggestion would be to use silicon grease on the oring rather then coolant. That is what I use on all orings with zero issues.

On a car like that what the water pump in the area that is in I remove the front motor mount injector engine up so that it brings that pulley up further when you can really get to it

Smashing repair rich :-D Those bolts were an odd size, between 14 to 15mm, i can't see it being imperial as modern cars are metric as far as i know. Also don't forget to tighten the radiator tap ha ha , i bet someone has made that mistake lol.

I think the boss on that tensioner might be worn down from age.

@@curiosity2314 It’s optional. I had enough room to get all of the bolts out without removing the engine mount or the headlight, but now I still can’t get the water pump to come out. 🤷🏻♂️
@curiosity23144 жыл бұрын
@@scooterp7009 What is it stuck to the engine? Should be able t knock on it with something. I know there is not much room but it should come out fine. I had one of the online electronic manuals at one time and they suggested taking out the motor mount.
@scooterp70094 жыл бұрын
@@curiosity2314 I might take the motor mount out next to get more room to access it. But I have been hitting it on the side with a hammer and pulling it back-and-forth with large channel locks and it won’t budge.

You should use an ODB-II reader to check coolant temperature. The gauge on the dashboard is rigged, and the numbers on that gauge do not correlate to reality at all. It moves in 5 discreet steps as the car warms up. You can see with the ODB readout that these steps correlate to the temperatures of 41,42,43,44,45 C. By this time it is in the middle of the gauge ("running temperature") then it does not move at all between 45C and over 100C. It's just rigged like that to keep the driver happy. If your car is running too cold due to a stuck thermostat, the dashboard gauge will never tell you. I assume that if you actually start to overheat, it will tell you that... I've not had that problem luckily.

Should change the timing belt to for peace of mind cause runs its belt driven.
@michaelslivensky87414 жыл бұрын
The water pump on this model is driven by the accessory belt , also known as the serpentine belt. I believe the newer Focus models are driven by the timing belt. But if this were driven by the timing belt, I would most definitely agree.
