I may have to do this fairly soon. It’s easier with a car lift but with large jack stands and a few solid jacks is this possible to do off the ground in your back yard? Looks doable just not sure if the sub frame will be able to lower enough?

Did the engine just hang off the upper engine mounts without any additional support from above, when you took the sub frame off ? Great video lots of good information thank you

Yes the subframe doesn't support the engine in the car that mount i disconnect is a torque mount that is to stop the engine from moving back and forth when put in gears and accelerating

@@DULLAHGOSOHARD curious if you think an older model Ford Fusion with the hydraulic steering rack instead of the electric steering rack would be a similar process as far the subframe and all that to be able to remove the steering rack. Unfortunately not any videos for the 2006-10 models with the hydraulic steering racks

@@DULLAHGOSOHARD unfortunately there’s no videos of the older non electric steering racks, I know there will be fluid lines instead of wiring harnesses but beyond that the parts are similar and all the same stuff is in the way so I might have a few things different and need to deviate slightly but so far what you did looks to be the game plan. you may need to, i recommend looking into FORscan. some people that put in a used one from a junkyard report not needing to.

at a ford dealership, they should be able to track it down, with the part number and you can check online as well

Yes, you'll need to upload the Power Steering Control Module configuration to a scan tool then download it to the new one

If your vehicle is equipped with EPS and it's failing or failed steering will be difficult and will probably flash you on the dash. You hearing noise from left to right could be other things. If you aren't mechanically inclined have a mechanic check it out.

@@jduda1127 thanks all good bro ...Ford actually fixed it for free...it was a recall on the rack n pinion for certain years and model... and mines was electric and internal 😅 🙏 thank goodness it was a recall
