I just got a 2024 Maverick Lariat hybrid and loving it. Traded in my 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500, and I do not miss the size. Also, the gas mileage on my hybrid is amazing. I got 507 miles on the first tank of gas, 13-gallon tank. That is a hug savings versus my Silverado that was averaging 15 to 16 mpg and had a 23 gallon tank.

I think most people need to be realistic with what their intended use will be. I've been stuck in that mindset with previous purchases where I needed the top of the line 4x4 model with the FX4 package etc and I never once took it off road. Ended up being a mall crawler.

I was lucky and found a Maverick tremor lariat for less than MSRP… basically another customer ordered it and it didn’t come on soon enough for them. Needless to say I got a great deal…. It says 24 highway… I’m averaging 28-29 on the highway… great vehicle!

It was tough for me to decide. Ive been debating between the two, and I eventually decided to custom order a Maverick(XLT FX4). Mainly I wanted it to fit in my garage, and the ranger is too big for mine. Tough choice since i'm seeing rangers now 3k off MSRP at the dealer.

You can get a Maverick XL for a lot less money than these two trucks. Not everyone needs a Lariat with all that extra equipment. My Maverick XL has the Ecoboost engine and averages between 28 and 29 miles per gallon.

Both are great, but a fully optioned hybrid maverick at 40mpg city / 33mpg highway, VS options I would want on the Ranger and I think 18city/24 highway for about $15k more... Maverick for me, especially with the AWD hybrid on the way.
@FrankD718642 ай бұрын
I am 8 months into my My Maverick XLT. It fits my needs. I don't tow. I don't go offroad. I don't live in the north, Appalachia, or the Rockies. Although the Maverick is capable of towing and has AWD for those that desire or have use for it, my needs are minimal, like throwing things from Lowes or the yard in the bed that wouldn't want to put in the back of a van or SUV. The height is perfect for my 83 year old 5'3" mother to ingress and egress without steps, as well as for me at 60. Before Ford introduced the Maverick, I visited several dealerships looking at the Ranger, Colorado, and Tacoma. I didn't consider the Ridgeline because it wasn't in my price range. The others were barely in range. Dealerships here in my area only offered trucks with lift packages. Which is understandable because the large share of the market warrants it. But that wasn't what I needed. Bret has checked all of the boxes for me, and after 8 months and 5,000 miles, it is A Sat Sat. Note: Ford has added a bigger screen for 2025. I love the screen in my 2024 because of the physical knobs. They have taken the knobs away on the bigger screen, and as Raiti would say, that cubby on the side of the screen in the 24 is a great place to hold a zip lock of Carnivore Snax beef sliders.

There is 5mpg hwy mpg difference between the Maverick. That's a lot if your driving hwy please don't compare stock ranger vs a lifted Maverick with larger tires when comparing fuel economy. The Maverick has comparable front seat leg and head room but the Maverick has more rear leg room in the ecoboost. What you gain in the Ranger is a little shoulder and hip room. Majority of the time if a daily driver it's one person. I would think having a better ride, handling better and better fuel economy without sacrificing significant interior room the Maverick is a better truck. That is if the carrying capacity and towing capacity is within the buyers parameters. Just for the record the Maverick bed is 33.6 the Ranger 45.3 cubic ft so that also maybe a determining factor. Just curious the video said it was 11000 difference but the Ranger didn't have the similar slide lok system in the bed and did the 11000 include the additional 500 for the bed line? Keep in mind I may be a little biased. A few months ago I bought a Ford Maverick FX4, 4K tow, P235 AT tires. Luckily I have been getting high mpg than what it is projected, I'm not complaining. I can understand why you liked or preferred the Maverick, it's a very nice truck. Thanks for the video
@PerformanceOnWheels4 ай бұрын
I did not compare the lifted Maverick. I compared how my Maverick was stock. My lifted Maverick gets 14-16 mpg.. which is absolutely terrible I know
@HuronRiver-ke8xn4 ай бұрын
@@PerformanceOnWheels Even stock your driving may be different than someone else. That's why I posted the difference that Ford has on the window sticker. I didn't post what I have gotten if I did it would have been a lot higher. Hwy mpg posted is Ranger 24 with a 4x4 and Maverick AWD 29 is where I got the difference of 5 mpg hwy. Then again it's a lot lower if city or mixed. Fortunately or unfortunately depending how you look at, majority of my driving is 2 lane hwy. Yeah the mileage your getting sucks. Kind of defeats the purpose of getting the Maverick. Also the Maverick without the lift and tires is a whole lot easier to get in or out of the cab. Also the lower bed height makes it easier to load or get things in and out of the bed. Even the standard Maverick AWD has 8.6 inches of ground clearance. If you get the optional P235 it increases it .255 so a ground clearance of 8.855 not much difference from the Ranger's 9.3. Unless you need more than the 9.3. The Maverick is very capable with all the benefits I mentioned. I'm surprised you didn't touch on how much easier ingres, egress and loading on the Mav? For the short time I've owned and used it, I'm thoroughly impressed with it's pros. I to think not only the small infortainment screen but synch 3 vs synch 4 which I believe the Ranger has. Hopefully that and the rear seat gets a split bench seat in the 2025 Maverick. I think the big news if they offer the hybrid in AWD for 2025 on the Maverick.

I have a Maverick and love it. I never figured out why the Ranger is so big when it came back in 2019? I mean you might as well get the F150. Not sure what the Ranger offers versus the Maverick or F150? I think the Ranger sales numbers says it all.

The 2.3 has port and direct injection, the 2.0 only has direct injection. That will help prevent carbon issues in the 2.3. Obviously, people should ignore service recommendations and change the oil daily in all direct engine vehicles.
