Amazing videos Alan My mk4 ex lease car has same 2.0l engine Just clocked 200k 48k of them I’ve put on them in 2.5 years I’ve owned it It’s had a new clutch flywheel and all the trimmings at 157k and serviced regular between 8-11k So far so good it’s been spot on No black smoke and plenty of power I honestly can not find a fault with it Just hope it continues for many more (You have proper talent for making these videos mate) 👍🏻

Looking at all the hassle and costs of replacing the broken parts, you absolutely made the right decision to replace the whole engine, far quicker and most likely in total a cheaper outcome. Thanks for this great video. Peter.

When the valves go straight into the cylinder like that, the force of the pistons will snap rockers rather than bend the valve. Check all the rockers though. Had a cam belt go, one rocker snapped, but 6 more had cracks in. I've never seen any vehicle Autodata didn't call interference, and technically, snapping rockers does cause interference.

Your videos are always entertaining and informative. Right decision to swap the engine when you have to factor in vehicle downtime. A taxi ain't earning if it's stuck in the workshop.

I had a 2.0l tdci 2008 mondeo in my work shop and the cam belt snapped and took off the head to find out only 12 of the 16 rockers had snapped and there was no need for the head off as it was perfect, it must be designed that the rockers are the week point . thanks for you video's there good

Alan ,On the miracle valve survival situation . There was some talk on an Australian Peugeot (Aussie Frogs) forum a while ago about the rocker arms being almost sacrificial in the tdi engines . A few people claimed to have seen timing belt failures that just resulted in broken rocker arms rather than the whole catastrophe. I think a member had an engine fail looking for a spare engine was advised to check it out before junking the engine. Whether by design or accident it seems it does happen.

Hi just wanted to ask.. I have a focus with the same engine.. Mine doesn't want to start unless you use quick start.. Once she starts she drives perfectly.. I replaced the fuel filter fuel pressure control valve, tested fuel pressure sensor.... I just can't figure it out.. Any idea mate?
@sulze1 Жыл бұрын
Sorry for my bad english but i dont understand why is the sprocket breaking off the camshaft and why does break the piece from the camshaft near the high pressure pump?
@alan4x Жыл бұрын
it is a design fault on the camshaft, over time that part of the camshaft becomes fatigued and causes the drive to spin on the camshaft under the strain of rotating the high pressure fuel pump

I don't know what happened to the DW10 engine. It was really quiet in older Pug's like the 206, 306, 406 etc then when fitted to Mondeo's,turns into tanks. The same thing when you fit the 2.0 TDCI in a Jag X-Type.

Hi Alan. Iv learnt so much from all your videos great stuff, thank you. I have one of the engines in my 2007 Galaxy. So far with 142000 miles has been really good however recently when starting the engine from hot or cold the car I can hear for a split second what sounds like a cam chain rattle, the sound dissapears straight away when started and running. The car runs well, still gets hight 40`s the the gallon. From your experience are these chain tensiones prone to fail ? many thanks.
@alan4x2 жыл бұрын
no those tensioners are not prone to fail as long as the engine has had the correct oil changes ..might be worth replacing the oil and filter first , cheers duncan
