In today's Marcus & Rose video we are going to repair a 2006 Ford Mondeo 2.2 tdci. In this vehicle we have several symptoms: lack of power, increased fuel consumption, unstable idle, jerks and produces quite a lot of black smoke from the exhaust.
Let's see what it has and how we can repair it.

How to measure the voltage of our air mass meter with a multimeter:
-Check with the ignition on:
If the ignition is connected, there should be approx. 12 volts of on-board voltage between pin 2 and vehicle ground. Between pin 3 and pin 4 there is a sensor voltage of approx. 5 volts.
-Output voltage with static air:
When the engine is stopped, the output voltage between pin 3 and pin 5 is approx. 1 volt.
-Measurement under load:
Start the motor! Here the measurement should be between 1.2 and 1.8 volts. With a gas pulse until the limiting speed is reached, 3.6 to 4.4 volts should be obtained. The air mass sensor is in order if these values are reached in the measurement.
