I've owned both. The Challenger looks the best from the front and the Mustang looks the best from the rear. The Challenger sounds the best, but the Mustang is a little quicker and you can get more power out of the Mustang for less money. The pistons in the 6.4 Challenger can't handle much more power than stock. It all depends on what you want from your car. If you want a quick car that handles good then go for the Mustang. If you want a muscle car that sounds good, comfortable, and has plenty of torque then get the Challenger. They are both awesome cars and they are both better than the Camaro.

What makes them both better than the Camaro?
@southpaw9944
@southpaw9944 4 жыл бұрын
@@chisquare5701 I should have said, in my opinion they are both better than the Camaro. The performance of the Camaro is great, but the problem is the room and visibility from the inside of the Camaro. If you don't have a problem with tight spaces and it's just a weekend car then it'll be fine. If it's a car that you'll drive everyday then forget about it.

Did the size of the challenger negatively affect your driving? I test drove one the other day and it definitely feels like I’m driving an extremely large car. Length wise. I’ve yet to test drive a mustang but I’m pretty indecisive between the two.
@SethKolbePrefect
@SethKolbePrefect 2 жыл бұрын
@@iv-koops8388 I own a 2021 5.0 for a while I wanted a scat pack but then I test drove one. The steering is very heavy if you're not used to large cars/trucks. It feels like there's a lot of unnecessary weight. Something not mentioned is the 6.4 seems to ONLY want premium fuel. Not to mention it also doesen't handle mods well. It's a great car at stock but don't expect to do much more unless you upgrade to a hellcat or better. It also has noticeably worse fuel economy than the GT which if you're getting a muscle car you probably could care less about that but it is Something to think about since the scat ONLY wants premium too. Scats are also 5k+ more than a GT which is what crossed the line for me. I had been a dodge challenger fan for most of my life but the 5.0 is just too versatile and bang for your buck to turn down.

@@iv-koops8388 mustangs steering is way smoother than the challengers. Only downside is it's a little less roomy than the challenger but the challenger does have a couple bad blind spots. Where as the mustang has great visibility. Camaro is definitely the worst of the three when it comes to this

I've had 5 Challengers (2 Scats, one manual and one auto), one 5.7L RT and two Hellcats (manual 2015 and auto 2019 Redeye). I just bought my first 5.0L Mustang awhile ago (6 speed manual PP1 car). As a everyday daily driver car the 5.0 Mustang is hands down easier to live with. The Challengers are fun cars with their pure retro styling and tons of low end torque, but they feel like tanks as compared to the Mustang. I had to get use to the power band of the 5.0 Coyote (the torque comes on higher in the rpm's, but once you get use to it, they are fun cars to drive everyday.

The Challenger has a nice solid feel. I like solid feeling cars, and this challenger is no exception, it will feel like a Mercedes or BMW. The extra weight feels nice. Also road noise and wind noise is toned down in the challengers cabin and when you mash that pedal, you get a glorious sound. I have friend that has a mustang, and it is not bad either. You really can't go wrong with either, but I prefer the extra heavy quality feel of the challenger. 💪🏾

I think this is fair. Even as a Challenger fan, I can accept the criticisms, such as the weight, the "feel" that the Challenger is a bit dinosaur-ish compared to the more modern Mustang. At the same time, the positives of the Challenger should be noted too: more room for driver and passengers, bigger trunk, superior engine note. One further point: most people are going to be ordering automatics (don't hate, that's reality). From what I've read, the Challenger auto trans is better than the Mustang's. So all of these things need to be factored in the equation. For me, a current Mustang owner (but an older, 2006 model), I come down on the side of the Challenger because I appreciate its form and style more. The Mustang leaves me cold in that area and, if you don't love the style of your car, you are not going to love your car, no matter how well it actually drives.

I've owned both, a 15' GT/PP and a 19' Scat Pack Shaker, both being manual...they both perform and excite. The S550 looks more European to me and the Challenger still resembles old school muscle. Maybe I got use to the smaller Mustang's interior and driving character, where the Challenger is and felt so much larger inside and out, as that also transferred to it's driving characteristics. They both ride very firm, but throwing around a 4300 pounder compared to a 3700 was like night and day...the Challenger Shaker package is why I bought it, what an awesome looking car..... but the feel of the more sports car like Mustang brought me back to my present ride. Both great American icons in there own right.

I have a Challenger 392 scat pack shaker. 2017. Definitely feels like a truck. I put 315s on the back tires and all.. I must say my best friend has a 5.0 and it definitely feels more premium on the inside .. It also turns and downshifts better. Most of you guys in the comments section are delusional and have never driven a 4,300 lbs car before. The mustang is definitely more premium and polished. Only reason people go for my car is the looks of an old school car , and that’s cool, but for taking a ride in the city and cruising , I’ll probably take the mustang too. The 392 sounds nice when you floor it of course , the engine is it’s most prized possession (although still slower than the 5.0) but the inside is too plastic feeling. Even from just adjusting the rear view mirror you can hear the cracks of the plastic. You also feel the plastic making the cracking sound when you are pulling the door to close it. 😑 I like my car but there’s a boundary between old school badass and plastic cheap feeling. Feel free to ask me any questions, I’ll be happy to answer/discuss them.

well said. couple questions for you. 1. If you could do it all over again which would you choose? 2. Would you wait a couple years and a buy a 2019-2020 Challenger/Stang used?
@thaJUGA97
@thaJUGA97 4 жыл бұрын
Tristan Cills I would honestly probably make the same mistake of buying a 392 shaker because that hood scoop that sticks out is something I always wanted. However man , In another world who knows .. that 5.0 is also really nice. Just know that they are completely different cars so test drive both of them before you buy any. For example my car has a lot of low end RPM power and lots of torque so you feel it “pull you” (nice feeing) when you give it gas. But the mustang is more of a gradual “smooth”pull (don’t feel it as much). Depends what you prefer. And for your second question hmmmm no because I think the 2015 and up models for mustangs/challengers are really nice so if you want one now I think nows a good time to maybe get a 2017/18 model. I’m not a big fan of the new wide body challenger scat packs btw so my 2017 is perfectly fine for me. I would buy one now , but if you like the wide body scat pack challengers , definitely wait for those since they just came out. If you scavenge the Internet you can find some nice 2017ish mustangs/challengers with good mileage for around 30k. Just a heads up you can usually find cheaper prices for mustangs. Im assuming cause they are more common so you could probably save a few thousand if you chose a 5.0.

As far as used I’m looking at a 11-14 challenger R/T or a 11-14 Mustang 5.0, as far as cost to maintain, fuel, reliability, and simply more fun yet still being somewhat practical which would you go with? I’d probably keep whichever car too
@thaJUGA97
@thaJUGA97 4 жыл бұрын
QUEEZY oof I don’t have experience with those model years...But if you want my opinion I like the body style of the mustang way more for 11-14. And As far as I know they get around the same mpg... Also , Mustangs were a lot more common during those years so I’m assuming you could buy parts for cheaper? Since they were more common (just in case you need to replace something). However, Before you buy either make sure you check the cars very well .. because I’m sure they were beat up by previous owners. Just keep in mind if you get either of those cars and they have close to 100k miles on them, most of those miles the car was probably pushed to its limits by the previous owner. So the less miles the better. Be gentle with it , change it’s oil on time .. replace any simple things you can like air filters and brake pads.. and I think you’ll be fine.. overall I’d go with the 5.0 for 11-14. It also seems lighter and easier for cruising. Like I said I don’t have much experience but that’s my humble opinion 👍🏼

Poor analysis ~ the Challenger is not a “Pony Car”. It’s a drag strip / street car. It is not comparable to anything Ford or Chevy turn out. Of course the clutch is going to be heavy ~ you’re comparing a Challenger with 475 lbs of torque to a Mustang with approx 425 lbs. it isn’t a sports car & isn’t meant to drive as one...American muscle 👍🏼

These are both muscle cars, how about some commentary about their performance? 0-60 times? Braking? Cornering? You gave us nothing other than letting us know the Challenger is heavier... which we already know, and that you liked the Mustang better... which you already did, before making this useless video.

You didn't even talk about the hp and torque if the mustang. That's because you know it's weak. Way to be biased.

Steering is heavy? You abvously don't know how to set up a car. It's electronic steering. I've driven both, the challenger is more comfortable to drive. And I only paid $41k for my new 2021 scat pack. Mustang is too tech heavy. Where the challenger is just raw HP.

And for being better than than the SS, that’s something I’d like to see on video on straight line and track. But if we are going to put the big cars, put the Super Snake GT500 vs the Chevy ZL1. Unless you’ve leapfrogged Chevy, your not beating it on the track. It’s dated, but I’d like to see it beat it on this par for the course track: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYCsmoyGos-rqrM

This is no comparison mustang gt stock 5.0, challenger 6.2 scat pack wide body come on its sad a 6.2 bigger motor barley beats a small 5.0,lol. Idiots do apples to apples mustang gt stock 5.0 and a challenger hemi 5.4 could never keep up with a mustang gt stock. It sad a 6.2 hardly beats the gt 5.0. Do the math.
