I'm about to begin my third time replacing this housing. This time I'm going with metal aftermarket. Any downfalls to these that I'm not considering? Got a link to the one you bought? Only negative I've heard so far is problems with the sensors. When I did mine the first time all three bolts broke off in the block. Also those clips for the sensors go flying and you won't find them, even when you think you're being super careful. I tie a thread to them out and in and keep them on a leash until they're in place...lol

The sensors seem to fit really loose in the housing but they don't seem to leak. I had a leak after doing this but it turned out to be just a weak spring hose clamp on the smaller line going into the top of the housing.

Did your intake manifold move, I replaced my thermostat the other day, I noticed my did, but they wouldn’t tighten up. Just asking if you noticed that in yours

I didn’t notice anything like that. I’m not sure what would cause that.

The intake was a bit of a pain to get back into place, there is no wiggle room and you almost have to use a shoe horn to get it back ontop of the engine....the bolts may be hung up and getting snagged on something if you push them up they will stay up until you push them back down with the torx bit to tighten back up.

why they build crap that way? so complicated and hard to work on. all bolts metric, we're not on the metric system, why?

Yeah the plastic thermostat housings are a bad idea.

Yo nice video…the same bolt on my 2001 is stuck, it’s got some JB weld with a sacrificial socket tonight and trying again to remove tomorrow. I may have to remove the intake if it strips anymore- any tips?

Sorry for the late reply. I discovered that it wasn’t the threads that were stuck, it was actually the shank of the bolt in the metal sleeve if the housing. Once I took the intake off I just spun the whole housing in circles and the bolt threaded out. For removing the intake it’s not too hard, just make sure to clean everything up and get new gaskets.

@@BrakeTheBank hope that’s the case with mine. I’ve got the intake loose and hoses, vacuum lines removed. Did you have to break apart your t stat housing to spin it out?

@@BrakeTheBank so I’ve removed the upper intake and used an extracter socket. The socket worked but snapped the head off the damn bolt. The housing is still stuck in place like it’s welded in. Won’t budge. How would I go about breaking in out safely? Any specific tool I can use?
