At least you did not have to take intake manifold off! Good job thanks for sharing! Amazon has plug in sensors.

I installed longer bolts down through the housing and put nuts on the bottom. This keeps the seams from separating, has worked so far.

I just attempted this and sadly had to remove the intake manifold due to a cross-threaded & sheared bolt when trying to mount the housing. For $1.40 at the scrapyard I got all the bolts needed. An extractor from Peavy Mart and a centre punch got the old one out. Much easier with the intake out, but I'm glad you and so many others were able to leave it on instead.

Yeah Ford changed so much constantly. I never understood why they went with a 2 sensor housing when they both report the same thing but to two different places. Seems like something they could have split off later, which, sounds like they did

@@JestersGarage it definitely makes it easier to change the driverside timing chain tensioner not having a sensor and a sender. I had an issue with a new sensor having an o-ring that was a bit too large to fit in the port. Lol I just noticed, but I use the airbox for tool and fastener storage too!

Great video! Thanks. I bought the same unit but without the thermostat. I'm waiting till the weather changes in my unheated garage (-25c) to finish the install. I guess I'll be using my wife's hair dryer to heat up the parts tomorrow. Ha!. I was wondering if you still recall the actual thermostat part number of the thermostat? If it has the emergency pressure bypass hole drilled into the flange, and if the hole is necessary at all?. Some have them, some don't. If you have the radiator cap part number and specs that you feel works well with your thermostat, that would be great?

So two years later how has the aluminum housing held up? This is my third time replacing it and I'm looking for "the Catch". The first time I replaced it all three bolts broke off in the block. The Ford dealership charged me $45 for those three bolts. I want this to be the last time I replace it.

i just got my aluminum housing for my 2003 Ranger 4.0L and am hesitant to put it in without a few days to play with lol my sensors are the clip in style! i was wondering if you could put the connections on the sensors while you were putting in the housing and save your hands? Also curious as to if you could put the top hose on before bolting the housing in, i will have to try that

Great video, I forgot to mark which wire goes to which sensor, plugs and sensors plugged in either way but noticed sensors had different part number on them so will see when I run it, may have to switch my wires. 2004 Ranger but only has 70K miles and never had leak at thermostat housing but was doing timing chain tensioner and got it mostly bank together today, have to add fluid and run tomorrow 9/4/21. We will see

i bought that same thermostat housing last year, the inlet and outlet hoses ruptured and as i was takin the housing out to replace the hoses, I notice the sealer on the inlet port where the small hose goes, had eroded some and i was able to spin the port. im thinking putting rtv sealer on it and see if it holds up. the housing itself is pretty good, it’ll outlast the hoses ik that much. lmk your thoughts

The senders are different ranges. I’m looking for the screw in replacements. Did your research and replace yours yet? And can you help me with any part # of senders for a 2001 Ranger? Thanks great video.

@@dericktrx7573 did you ever figure out what sensors you needed? I've got an 01 ranger. replaced the housing with the aluminum one. I also had to grind down the throttle body to fit the top hose. My sensors didn't need modifications. But my CPU threw a temp sensor code. I'm headed to O'Riley's today to buy some screw in sensors that supposedly match my year, make, model. Any help would be appreciated.

@@neverstopexploreon Good luck! My friend. I worked as a technician at a Ford dealership. I tried to find the right replacement sensors for the Aluminum housing part . There isn’t any. That will work! All screw in types are for the explorer and will not work on the 4.0 L ranger without setting a sensor code. Check engine light. Also your temperature gauge will be off. The engine will not run properly. PCM will think the engine isn’t at operating temperature. So I never used it. I ordered replacement from Ford. A aftermarket. Part will not work without giving you a code. But good luck 🍀.
