My 06 Ranger only had hot air and the AC only worked on MAX AC. Brought a new blend door actuator from Advanced Auto and works perfect. First i unplugged the old one and check the voltage at the plug and plugged the new one in to make sure it moved the actuator. There were 3 screws, 2 in the front which were easy to get out and 1 in the back which took my 13 year old with small hands to remove. is was a 8mm or 5/16 screw. dropped 2 sockets while trying to remove it. took a piece of 12g wire and a small magnet to fish them out. removed the old actuator, put in the new one and only installed the front 2 screws back. works perfect now.

Thanks! Even if this helped just 1 person - i'm happy. It was a pain.

Tks for the vid..I did mine this weekend and the idiot design of having that screw on the backside made it a bitch to get it out.I used the ratchet/socket wrench enough to where I could get a 5/16 ratchet wrench on it and that sped the process up.

With how tight of space it was it was much more difficult than it should have been. Hope this helped and you have some nice cool/hot air now!

Is Your Ranger heater only?...no AC?...My '08 Sport has the same YL5H-19E616 number, but different lower number, is same MAN production....seems that non AC is uncommon....I have the same problem You described, first, no heat, then after removing the actuator I made a wood adaption to operate the door, and left it for the winter....spring has arrived in North west Coast Canada, and it is time to make it right....nearest Ford dealer is 100 mi. away along a river that winds it's way through the Coastal Mountain Range, so I am attempting to get My numbers right to order off the internet....77 year old retired HD Mechanic here looking for guidance....thank You...

The Ranger has heat and remarkable AC. The position that the door stuck happened to be on AC (thankfully). I braved a winter or two with no heat before fixing the issue. Now it has both, as designed.

I saw where someone said to "reset" the actuator to fix the problem. What do you think of that? Remove #27 fuse. This was on a Ford Ranger. Mine is a 2009 Ford Ranger. Start the vehicle by turning on the ignition. Run the A/C system so that the HVAC system can initialize and calibrate the acutators for about 30 seconds. turn the A/C and vehicle off. Reinstalll the fuse. Start the vehicle again. Wait for 30 seconds before verifyin the proper mode door acturato operation. Does that sound feasible to you? If this would work it sounds much easier than what you had to do.

That would be great because just about anything would be easier than this procedure. If you gave it a try, did it work for you?

@@dillonbarclay8373 i can't even get the fuse out and I'm using a fuse puller.

My 07 Ford Ranger everything on the heat thing works except for when I want it to turn cold it will stay hot the only Position will the temperature after admitted it to switch the actuator from hot to cold is when the AC is on Max position that's the only time I can get the vehicle cold cold air so I know AC is working in the Mac position bought for just normal driving that you don't want the AC on if the heater dial is on cold it will stay hot as hell so the only time I can get the truck to stop blowing heat is when I move it to the max AC position other than that my truck is stuck on hot air all the time

I'm not sure...The Ford Explorers is kind of near the middle console. It might be near there

So it seems the only time my actuator will go from hot to cold it's only when I'm in the max AC position even the regular AC position don't work it will stay hot as hell but when I put on Max AC position I hear something move and then I get cold air

That is very strange! Please update us if you figure it what causes that.

Dropped my ratchet on the back screw down into the abyss. Had to use a magnet on a string to get it back.
