Little advice since I drive a new ranger. Don't take off the tire trust me. It's just as easy to just reach over the tire. You only need to take off the top 3 screws because that cover is just flimsy rubber so you can bend it down without harm. But don't over tighten the screws like the last mechanic did on mine. Because when taking them back off it's too tough. I had to cut my cover off because the screws stripped when I went to take them off

How much of a quart of oil is the .2 of the 6.2 quarts??? Is there a measurement on the side of the oil bottle that shows this .2 ??? Wish I had seen you pull the dipstick after running it and letting it drain for awhile so I could see where the oil level is on the stick.. Perhaps then, I can know how much oil is 6.2 quarts... Thanks for your great video !
@scottspicka73723 жыл бұрын
If you have to ask this question, please just let the professionals change your oil.
@jamiehickman65562 жыл бұрын
Here's an easy way to figure out partial quarts. A quart is 32 ounces, so .1 (10%) of a quart is equal to 3.2 ounces. That means .2 (20%) of a quart is twice that much and would be 6.4 ounces. There are usually marks every 4 ounces on the quart bottle of oil, so 6.4 ounces would essentially be half way between the 4 and 8 ounce marks on the bottle. If you buy your oil in the 5 quart jugs (which I usually do), just save any 1 quart oil bottle you have, clean it, and then mark a line half way between the 4 and 8 ounce marks and fill to that level from the larger jug. Hope this helps.

I added 6 quarts, really slowly, etc., and ended up adding more than 1/2 quart more to get the oil level on the dipstick to the level it came with from the factory... This is not new either... On my '09 Grand Cherokee with the 5.7 Hemi V8, it also took a lot more oil than just the ounce nbr., when measured by the dipstick...

When I worked as a Ford tech, the 10 minute issue has never been brought to my attention nor to any other tech’s attention to my knowledge. I have read that the overseas Rangers with the diesel engine has this issue, but our 2.3 liter I believe does not apply. Either way, the oil drains out before 10 minutes anyway. depending on the year the Ford ranger cannot have a simple oil change because if you drain the oil completely out until it stops dripping it will ruin the engine because the oil pump becomes empty and it's a huge pain in the ass priming it. I think you have to put the drain plug back in once the oil is at a trickle and then re fill to keep the oil pump primed. Ford really made a terrible designed vehicle and is why I'd never buy one.
