The reviews have a logical flow that hits on the tangential stuff along the way as needed. There’s a time and place for shenanigans in car reviews, but the no-nonsense approach is never out of place. On one hand batteries do slowly lose range and thus decrease the value along with simple wear and tear to the interior and moving mechanical parts in the powertrain. However the yearly maintenance and fueling costs are much lower than ICE vehicles and software updates could help an EV that loses 20 miles of max range over time regain some if not all of that. EVs will depreciate for sure but they are gonna do so at a noticeably slower rate, for better or worse.

There are models coming from so many companies, and they differ in various ways. The Hyundai/Kia models are handsome and have a great combination of range and charging speed, but it's too soon to know how well they drive. Most of the European models offer a lot less range (it's less of a priority there), but can be nice otherwise. Personally, I think this market category will look very different in a couple of years. You really don’t need an EV faster than mid-5s to 60. You will be substantially faster than all traffic around you anyway and you are not going to track a 2-ton vehicle. Why do you feel compelled to tell others what they need? I find that those who proclaim what others "need" come with varying amounts of one or both attributes: * severely narcissistic (and typically trying to fake how much they care) * profoundly stupid (and convinced they are smarter and so must take care of everyone else) Both attributes make it difficult or impossible for the sufferer to understand the meaning of "people are different."

If the car isn't in unbridled extend mode, the car's throttles back the power output typically after one 0-60 run due to the battery and powertrain warming up too much and the cooling system isn't doing a good job. It's pretty sad that Ford would market the GT & GTPE as a performance lineup with all the shortcomings. You can't even get in one good quarter mile run since the car throttles back the power after 70 mph, which is why it traps lower than it should in the 1/8th and 1/4 mile. Trap speeds are roughly 86 and 104 mph, respectively. This thing should be trapping at 92 and 113 mph, roughly. In terms of performance, no Tesla owner would be worried. Even the 50-70 acceleration is inferior, roughly 1.9-2.0 seconds. Even the Model Y Long Range with the acceleration boost is faster (1.7s). The Y Performance does 50-70 in 1.5s. Pros and cons to each. Tesla has the better charging network, better software, better performance. Ford has a nicer interior, better seats (GTPE), dealer network is more established. Tesla still needs to establish more service centers. Ford needs to improve on software (PaaK, UI responsiveness) along with more performance out of the GT & GTPE.

Sadly the BlueCruise prep package and glass roof are extra. That makes the GT PP $14,000 more than my Mach E 4X. Sure would love to have the GT but I think I spent a ton of money buying my '21 F150 Limited Powerboost 4x4 and my Mach E Premium 4X. I'm very satisfied with my car.

I would love to take this out on the freeway (preferably the German Autoban). You would only feel weightless and your senses would realize you were moving at all, like take off on a large plane where suddenly everything just goes, chillllllllll....and you're on your way to the sky. This was smart on Ford's part and mightily brave calling it a Mustang 'Mach' and of course EV.

Why aiming to Tesla.. I don't get it... everyone complains about Tesla but everyone wants to compare... like really... Just do a fare comparison and use other EVs... that would be interesting... Problems with Mustang E not being fixed yet... like loss off power, charging problems and door opening problems... not to mention safety... like the Mosse test didn't go soo well did it.... from a company that makes cars by 100 years.... like really... and sustained performance, cooling system sucks... and charging problems after intense driving... just get your facts right... and compare with others... No one would be speaking about EVs if we were depending on the legacy auto.... I hope the roof glass doesn't detach on the go.... Lol... critics are easy doing better is very hard.... No blue drive mention... the 30k autopilot option.... but only usable in some areas in USA.... Lol.... No safety remarks.... odd... again just don't use Tesla as target... they done more with far less.... so I little respect goes à long away...

As usual Alex, you're spot on with your assessments. The Y keeps going up in price and down in reliability, so it's off my list. I never liked the minimalist interior or the rubber ducky face, and the glass roof has no shade. I do like the room inside and the responsive screen, though I wished it swiveled toward the driver more, instead of looking slapped onto the dash. I do like the styling of the Mach-e and EV6 the most of all the EV SUV's. I don't like the weight of the e's battery and inefficiency. The EV6 uses a 77 kWh battery to get the same range and performance, albeit in a smaller package, and at a lower price. Both can get the current $7500. tax credit, but Ford may be elegible for more if the battery is made here in the US and if congress passes the EV credit bills. Surprisingly, the Mach-e is made in Mexico.

I’m usually not a fan of Ford and don’t care for Mustang, but if I were to pick between this and the Tesla Model Y, I would pick this 9/10 times. They have similar range and performance, though I’ll admit Tesla’s software might be more advanced and have better charging infrastructure. But this looks sooooo much better!!! The Model Y looks like a bloated whale about to explode, while this has some very sexy curves and edges that remind me of an Aston Martin DBS. I know Ford had a history of copying Aston Martin’s designs, but a good looking car is a good looking car.

Some of what this guy says makes no sense. The GT and GT Performance have the same brakes so why would the Performance stop better? Especially since the Performance weighs more because of the M ride. Then there's the power difference. First of all you're talking about a minimal amount of torque. Second. In real world you're not feeling a difference between 3.5 and 3.8 0-60. Third, because of that extra torque you get more torque steer which means more wheel slippage. So I would bet in real world the standard GT is every bit as quick as the Performance. Not to mention wouldn't you think that the M ride would be more taxing on the batteries which would degrade Performance?

This vehicle appeals to the folks who don't want to be seen in a Tesla. If Ford wants to be successful, (I'm not sure they do) they need to stop dealers form marking up the Mach E. Supply is limited so some dealers are tacking on as much as $10,000 out the door. This for a car that is inferior to the competition in range and performance. Our son went to a Ford dealer and took a test drive in a Mach E. He was not particularly impressed, but the telling thing was the dealer follow-up. The salesman didn't even mention the EV when he called. He wanted to know what they could do to get our son in a new ICE car.
