Having given up on the new Tundra, I found a 7000 mile, 2020 F-150 with the 3.3 and six speed. I'm hoping that it will last as long as an older Tundra but without the rust issues and terrible MPGs.

I watched your video again and wanted to add that with my 3.7 MKS with AWD, I drilled and tapped a drain plug. I use Amsoil 75/140 every 10k.

Darn. I bought a 2017 Ford Escape for $1,000 , has 74,920 miles. Needed a transmission overhaul, I did the overhaul myself. Granted I’m a transmission tech at a ford dealer. I’m just heart broken because the escape I bought is a 1.5L 😭😂 should I just sell it. I do daily a 2012 Ford Focus Great gas mileage. Did the clutch about 50k miles ago. Will occasionally shudder. But man I don’t care lol I love this car.

@elhehe8476 hey. I'd run oasis and see if it's had a warranty shortblock done. If not, I'd still consider keeping it. You can run oasis on some junkyard cars and maybe you'll find one with an updated shortblock, and you can go get the engine for a few hundred bucks

well, that's unfortunate, 3 months ago i bought a 2017 ford focus 1.5L EcoBoost / 150hp with 6F35 transmission had a 103000 Km (64K Miles). looks like it's not going to last long. any recommended maintenance to do?

We don't have that powertrain setup in the US, so that wasn't in mind when making the video. 1.5L 4cyl? or 3cyl? If, down the road, you end up getting a new engine with the redesigned block, it should be very reliable. As far as the transmission, drain and fill it 3 times every 30k miles (50k kilometers). The weak point on that transmission is the fluid breaking down fast and clogging the filter (wearing out the front pump).

@@BigBensCarsAndCycles i appreciate your response, You're right, this setup is available in Europe, not in US. but i think its the same setup as the 2017 ford escape in US. my focus's engine is 4 cylinder. i looked online about this engine block problem which result a coolant leak into the engine. and i found that the block design was updated in 2019 and after. a month ago, i did all recommended maintenance by the mechanic. transmission fluid, engine tune-up as well as programing with Ford IDS. is there anything i can do to keep this engine alive?

Wondering what if anything can be done to avoid/delay the coolant intrusion issue on a 2017 Fusion 2.0 Ecoboost? Ours has 87K miles and although we love the car and maintain it well, I always feel that it’s on borrowed time. Or, maybe if it hasn’t failed by now it may be good for another 80-100K, your thoughts?

@@johnjacobs7618 hi, it's hard to say for sure. I would say it should last another 30k without much doubt. Perhaps it's had the redesigned engine already put in before your ownership under warranty. If you start getting a misfire on a hot start it may be time

⁠@@BigBensCarsAndCycles Thanks! We bought it new so it’s the original engine. Oil changes every 3-4K. Mostly driven longer distances but with some freeway stop and go. Doesn’t consume any oil between changes.

I’ve heard generally good things about the 3.0L Duratec V6s, whether it be the original model, the PI version or the VCT version. Does that track with your experience?

Hi, that's the engine from the late 2000s escapes you're talking about, right? Those are extremely reliable. Though, the ignition coils like to burn out PCM drivers occasionally. They leak oil, too. But not a huge deal.

@@BigBensCarsAndCyclesThey were available in the 1st and 2nd gen Escape, but could also be had in the 1st gen Fusion/Milan and the 2006 Lincoln Zephyr. Also available in the Ford Freestyle and the 3rd and 4th gen Taurus.

I just did a water pump on my daughters 2013 explorer. Started leaking at 145k miles. Wasn’t too bad, but I’m glad it’s done.

Ok, last comment. My 2016 MKC 2.3 EB, 6F35 gets a drain and fill every 10k with the Amsoil LV fluid.
