Corporate bean counters push these companies to cheap out on every little detail to max out profit while keeping production costs low. Everything that goes on some of these cars are about the lowest possible bid from around the world. No pride from companies (like Ford) to be able to claim their vehicles will last for 150+ k miles. I have a Ford (hybrid) that is 10 years old and 85,000 miles. Maybe I am lucky, but it is running excellent, the battery shows 94% efficiency and I am getting 45MPG. More and more I think I am the lucky exception rather then the rule. If it lasts another 15,000 miles I will be content, but they should last 150,000 miles or more without any issues. Ya; some companies know what quality assurance is - Toyota; Honda, Japanese learned QA from the USA post WWII but The USA largely dumped it (see Deming) To a good degree USA brands after being burnt by the Japanese have gone back to it somewhat. Some German companies but largely missing elsewhere. What it means is you check the parts before you put them in and you spot check your final product - even tearing it apart weld by weld - to make sure they are built properly.

I worked in a catalytic converter factory about 10 years ago. Back then anyways: Ford was hands down the best, dodge was the worst. Literally no difference in a dodge catalytic converter and a no name cheap aftermarket replacement.

That problem (glowing catalytic converter and rotten egg smell) is a recall in and of itself for the mavericks, some of the early production Mavericks had that issue. If the guy who wrote in went to a ford dealer they should have fixed that issue.
@mrmrlee9 ай бұрын
Way less issues than the Hyundai/Kia oil use issues that's causing catastrophic engine failures. Friend of mine has 3 Kias, all 3 ended up with blown engines due to excessive oil use. Kia replaced all 3, but they won't do it until the engine fails. Contrast that with 2 Maverick recalls relating to my 2024 of a defective turn signal indicator and a fuel leak which only affected 217 vehicles I'll still stick with the Maverick Eco Boost TYVM. Neither of these actually affect my vehicle either.

I’m 66, and recall the days of my youth, when the big 3 were building great quality cars that were exciting and beautiful. But somehow in 1973: things began to go downhill for them, and it’s not gotten much better since. But for some strange reason, the Japanese brand started catching on in the 70s due to the fuel crisis, and the public caught onto them because they were durable and great value for the money, and they slowly eclipsed everything built the World over. It’s not that Americans and Europeans can’t build a Toyota. It’s they don’t care to.

Ford quality is non-existent. Went to make a Service Appointment today with my local Ford Dealer to address a Recall. Was told that the next available appointment is June 2024. Called around to other Ford Dealers within a 50 mile radius and told the same thing. Asked one Service Center what was going on and they freely admitted that all Ford Service Centers are overwhelmed right now because of the high number of recalls flooding Ford Service Centers. NICE!

Here's a question about bad gas. I was told never to buy gas from a station when you see the gas delivery truck there. The reason I was told was that as the gas flows in the tank it stirs up all of the sludge and water at the bottom and you'll be putting in your tank. I know there are probably line filters at the station, but it has been something I've always followed. What are your thoughts?

One time after a small bender consisting of one part beer 3-4 cases - one part kamikaze shots. 40. One part days two - and one part egg sandwiches 6 - the bad gas I produced could have been implemented into a new quarter mile record even though I was driving a Vega GT wagon !! if I could have used that stuff in a nitrous like injection System records would have fallen

As a previous Maverick owner that drove brand new until 20k miles I can also attest to how poor quality these trucks are being made. I had many issues including already needing a new exhaust heat exchanger part that I waited over half a year for so driving with a check engine light for that long. The maverick hybrid also has an issue of grabby brakes at low speeds so if your in traffic or at drive thru the car could suddenly jerk violently at slow speeds. And many other countless issues including radio software issues . Got tired of the classic ford motto. Nothing wrong with it so we can't fix it. Went and traded for a Tacoma and never looking back.

I have a 2022 ford Maverick hybrid. So far, it’s been good to me but only has 20k miles. Fuel economy is great, but I have had a coolant leak, the 6 recalls have gotten annoying, but it’s a good car. I’m not completely sold on the Atkinson engine yet. It’s noisy, makes weird noises, etc. It’s a shame bc it is a fantastic idea. It’s great for how I use it, but this isn’t a car I’ll keep past warranty. Lucky, the values hold high so I have a second one on order (ecoboost this time) and will still fetch nearly MSRP for my old one after 2 years. I’ve heard the 2023s and upwards are far more reliable from the forums etc. really only the very very early 2022s have had these issues and it seems ford knew and pumped them out the factory still.

@TexasDragon39079 ай бұрын
Most ev's can turn the electric motor into a generator and use the friction to slow down, It's called regenerative braking. The car will do this automatically and it usually doesn't activate the brake light. It's certainly a safety hazard with how quickly the regen can slow the vehicle down without warning to everyone else that it is doing so.

There is no law in the USA causing steel tanks to be replaced. The law is that all tanks installed after 2008 have to be double walled. So the old stations have steel tanks and the newer ones have tanks that are a fiberglass outer wall and steel inner wall or both walls are fiberglass.

The letter sounds bizarre anyways...Catalytic converter glowing red? The exhaust down the pipe isn't hot enough for that. As to the smell, Ford intentionally runs engines super rich for a few minutes on a cold start to heat the converter as fast as possible, then the mixture leans out. The rich mixture creates an odor for a short while, I've noticed it myself, totally normal. Very surprised Scotty seems unaware of this fact.
