Why did Ringwood permit the dumping in the first place? What deal was made between Ringwood and Ford? Did the citizens, not the mayor and council members, have any say in the matter?

"The community got what we were hoping to get for them." No, they wanted accountability for Ford and fair compensation. This is so tragic, and the lawyers f'd up an easy case big time.

Ford needs to be accountable for this...I've been to peters mine and met the people that live in front of it. They are very nice and deserve better.

I remember being a kid taking Sunday afternoon rides up in that area. My father would point to those hills and say that is where the Jackson Whites live. To us back then (in the 60s) they were "only" inbred, reclusive mountain people. I didn't know any better and had no idea calling them that was considered a racial slur. I feel bad about that now and truly wish the powers-that-be took helping them seriously.

This whole thing is terrible, however everyone who is continuing to live there is certainly not helping thier own personal health, regardless of how sick they are. MOVE AWAY and save your families and thier futures, whatever might be left of them. What a horrible thing to have happen but clearly its time to move away from the area.

Recently did some work on peters mine rd. Made me curious about the area and I came across this doc. August 2017 and no work going on at the dump sight, still fenced off. I spent a few minutes helping Mrs. Milligan with something around her house. Nice folks, but I wouldn't want to cross anyone around here...

So you're (NOT "your") saying that because Ford employed people it is acceptable to dump tons upon tons of toxic waste in a residential area? Especially around a Native American, discriminated-against people who had trouble getting hired anywhere? Please explain your logic.

This is absolutely shameful from the Ford Motor Company.Can someone find out and let me know where Ford Motor Company purchased their 55 gallon steel drums of this red paint sludge?I helped make it also and shipped tons of it to Ford Motor Company that they ordered.We made it at BASF Chemical Plant aka Flint Ink in Huntington WV and Ford ordered it to use to paint their new vehicles they sold red.

@hwiseman1 I understand all that, but if its life or death, health or sickness.... I'd rather cut my losses after being sold out by the lawyers and left with nothing and move away for my family and future generations to keep them healthy. Of course its not thier fault, but if a nuke falls on your land when your away would you move back for recongition or stay away in sadness... ?? I mean in the end if your lucky to still be somewhat healthy get the hell out!

I'm ready to cry that the woman who has just received a settlement check, when pressed for what she will do with the money, responds that she wants to get some PAINT and floor tiles. seriously? How about the best water filter known to man or a great organic garden?? Nope. Paint. You maybe can't fix some people no matter how much money you hand them.
