My 03 Excursion with the 6.0L takes about 17.5 quarts due to the bulletproof diesel oil cooler that pulled the cooler out of the valley.

It is always a best practice you use manufacturer recommended fluid types. Can't remember exactly what went into this vehicle but if it was different that manufacturer recommendations then it was the owners choice.

Nice clean oil change.

You put the o-ring in the 2cd groove down? it goes in top groove. It will work there but sometimes leaks.

I do 3 qrts out of my first gallon and put it aside so I can adjust as I go if I make a mistake

Beautiful Video!! but why not 5-20 or 5-30 my truck is the same as this one with 80000 miles which oil do you recommend?
@jerrygonzalez76472 жыл бұрын
Why you didn’t change the fuel filter, it’s recommended every oil change!

I had a calamity happen with an oil change to my 2003 F350 Lariat 6,0 diesel. I had a guy change the oil for me one time except in the process of taking the old oil filter out, he cracked - broke the clip on the top of the old filter inside the cap. He then proceeded to install the new oil filter somehow jamming it into the cap (in other words there was then the clip from the new oil filter jammed into or on the clip from the old oil filter in side the cap). At the time, I did not know what had happeed however, immediately after it was reinstalled it would leak and when I would stop there would be a puddle of oil left. I think he cracked something in the bottom of the oil cannister. But have been searching where it is leaking from since. Any idea?

Really only recommend you use the weight your manufacture says. Using synthetic is OK. The 5w40 may not be thick enough. Some vehicles do not like incorrect oil weights. Some of the Chrysler with a hemi will set a code and turn on the check engine light. I personally would not use it.

same for F350 with a 6.0??

Not sure how you figure it is only two-thirds drained but veryone is entitled to their opinion

Question, motorcraft 15-40 is recommended oil. But I see a lot of people using 5-40 synthetic. Is this ok to use?
@JamesTyreeII9 жыл бұрын
Blake Andrews 5W40 is good to use in the fall winter and early spring to minimize stiction, but warmer weather especially with towing require 15w40 to combat the heat.

Those are not 4 qt gallons. They are like 3.785, so you almost need all 4 gallons. I let it drain while I change fuel filters and clean my interior.

If I was your customer, this would have been the last oil Change with you .. I want my old oil drained, not 2/3 drained
@AmericanMan9619 жыл бұрын
+bobl78 lol you do know at the dealership prolly 60% of the time they use re-used oil right? not to mention they dont drain out the oil 100% either its time consuming. Oil is a thick-ish substance it would take DAYS to get it all out.
@Dreg5558 жыл бұрын
+bobl78 For nearly 2 decades with HEUI engines(see; 7.3L/IH T444E engine), people have not drained the oil rails, HPOP, etc with no ill effect.
@josephmcclary96674 жыл бұрын
Nah. I’d start on the bottom, then take care of the filter while it drains.
