Ford superduty rockers and cab corners replacement

Installing some fresh rockers and cab corners on the 2000 f-250 7.3 powerstroke using a $150 harbor freight welder
You can buy these panels anywhere they all are the same in my experience, my DIY inner rockers are 14 guage plates that I bought from a local weld shop that they cut to the size I needed to fix my inner rocker holes

Looks sweet man, you are killing this rebuild! Are you going to leave those lower cab supports rusty or is there something you can do quick/easy to add a little strength to them without spending days totally fixing them the “right way”?

You dont like to drill or blair the spotwelds? Do you use weld-thru primer? They make a cheap step flange step tool that has a hole piercer on it too, works fast n clean. Welding up collision repair in I-CAR cert'd shops for 34yrs has taught me cover up the interior(seats burn hrs later). Are those cab corners butt welded in? When you said "for what" when you were talking about cab supports....were you serious? Looks good tho.

The right way is technically to belt sand the welds, I ran out of belts and drilled driver side. Yes I use weld through primer. I have that flange tool and it broke first time I used it, idk how you would flange the angles on cab corner but I did use a backing strip, yes I was 100% serious when I said it isn’t worth replacing cab supports they don’t actually matter

This will rot out in a year or two. So, rust is like cancer, you have to cut it all out or it will come back. You should've used weld-through primer, and actually paint the bare metal with at least something, preferably a rust converter like POR-15. Then leave a drain hole and a spot to spray in fluid film. Anyone looking to do this this is a great example of WHAT NOT TO DO! Hell you didn't even weld in the factory plug weld holes.

@@BiggHoss I did use por15 under it when I was done, I filled it with weatherproof foam when I was done. I did cut out all the rust. Rust is not like cancer, it isnt a biological disease lol. Ive been doing this for 5 years never had 1 issue with it coming back but thank you for your comment

@@nick7.398 I've been a body tech for almost 10 years and have done more patch jobs than you can count. Rust spreads like cancer. Any moisture on bare metal will rust. I guarantee your old work is rusted on the inside. You can do your homemade hack job, just don't advertise it as a fix, cause its not.

@@BiggHoss rust doesn’t spread like cancer. If that was the case you could walk up to s clean truck and touch a piece of rusty metal to it and it would start rusting. Also u say I didnt cut out all the rust when infact I did cut it all oit
