Ford Taurus blows ignition fuse FIXED

Thank you!! Hit it on the money, same exact car as the one you're working on. 40amp fuse was blown. installed new fuse. The new fuse did not pop. everything works again. if the problem duplicates, I'll have to look for an intermitting short. anyway, it is working and luckily I found this video here because I couldn't find any info of someone duplicating this problem anyway, take care. Great video. I'm fixing up a 2006 Taurus for a widowed neighbor. I touched the wrench on the red wire going to the fuse box with the spark plug wrench. All went dead. Checked fuses, they're all ok. I was told there is a master fuse somewhere. Can't find it if there is one. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.

I'm working on a 2000 Altima. Not same car obviously but blowing the ignition fuse when trying to start. I can jump the starter by the two terminals and it will engage and crank the engine which is a little different than what yours is doing. I can also jump the solenoid terminal to the positive terminal and will crank which should mean the solenoid is ok. So could it still be the solenoid itself blowing the fuse? I can get a reman starter for $100 but that's an expensive maybe. Normally other than a fuse blowing this is how I would test a starter but this seems fine. Think I'm on the right track? To compound my confusion, I had just changed the radiator, which only has an electric fan to unplug, went to start car and no go. I pretty quickly found it was the blown ignition fuse. I only had one spare and it blew right away too. Just a very bad timing coincidence for starter to go after changing the radiator???

Thanks for the video. I have a similar issue at the moment with a 2006 nissan Serena. The ignition fuse keeps blowing. The starter mirror was repaired and while the vehicle starts , it refuses to start once I shut it off from a long trip. Would this be due to the starter failing? Should I just get a new starter? What is it about the starter solenoid that causes the fuse to blow?

Depending on how the starter sound and perform it could be a bad starter. Fuses blow in the starting circuit due overwhelming the circuit or Either faulty failing ignition switch shorting to ground or bad internal contacts causing starter drag. Hope this answers your question properly,

My '03 Taurus, just stopped working. Checked fuses to see if they were blown (w/out tester). I had driven to work, then I couldn't leave. Battery charged, had replaced Alternator, Starter, within the last couple years. There was no clicking, no crank, yet dash/dome lights came on.

Try another key... Check your security light

To add to my initial comment, typically the security issue will cause a "crank no start" condition [on ford if i recall] In your case, simply check the starter solenoid wire with a test light and see if you get a voltage signal at solenoid wire, if you have a signal, replace the starter. Also... Try the old school method of tapping on the starter motor, see if it engage

My 07 was doing something similar it would come on ( lights and all) but it wouldn’t start had the starter replaced and battery still was happening I replaced the starter relay fuse and the 40 and 15amp fuse and so far so good try replacing those fuses it’s a video here on yt on which fuses

My 96 has an ignition fuse and a starter module fuse in the same fuse box.

the battery post + connectort is lose not good can cuse other problems first to make sure Battery posts connectors are tide !

Sparta Tactical Arms hmm mine starts sometimes and sometimes it doesn’t. all the lights come up on the dash and the temp gauge and speedometer stop working. even if i get it on first try they usually pop up and stop working again

Mikenna Joy that’s your wire harness burning out it’s touching your ac line it happens to me then my starter went out had to rewire the whole thing

@@spartatacticalarms6914 I've been having the same problem, no start no crank, dash lights up, fuel pump primes, got stuck at Wal mart! Finally figured wiggling the starter relay would turn it over put key to run and wiggle relay. Did that the a couple months then I think the relay stayed on and burnt out the starter. Replaced starter and wires, new battery, oh and I replaced the neutral safety switch I even replaced the gym module because my windows don't working anymore either.. do you think it could be my ignition switch that's probably the only thing I haven't checked or some random ground somewhere idk, but I just hope I didn't get the computer
