An extended advert for the Ford Thunderbird range of 1967. I think this promo was made for sales staff rather than the public. In any case the footage promotes the many advantages of these cars...I found myself wanting one before it had finished.
This may have been colour footage to start with, but the 16mm copy I was working with was very red faded, so I went for black and white. Incidentally, this was projected rather than digitised. One advantage of doing so is that you get a broader range of contrasts...i.e., dark areas look less totally black and light areas look less totally white. There is overall more detail...provided you can find the sweet spot with camera and projector phasing.
There were no credits at all with the film I found.

My parents had a new 1967 4-door landau. I was 11 years old at the time. I still vividly remember it and miss that car. It was awesome!

I was 12 years old when my parents got their new 1967 4-door landau. I remember it very well, too. Unlike the 1964 2-door it replaced, I got my own door!

I was surprised to see a non-power window equipped car here. Love that Tilt-a-Way steering wheel though - such a neat, attention getting feature!

Great advertisement! I traded a troublesome 1967 Toronado in on a new 1969 Thunderbird 2-dr Hardtop (sans Landau vinyl top) quite similar to the one first seen in the ad. Complete with that stunning interior, bucket seats and console and... yes.. hand-cranked windows! Its rich-looking aqua vinyl interior looked beautiful with a Lime Gold exterior. My Dad was so impressed with it that he traded in his 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix in on a summer closeout 1969 Thunderbird loaded.4-door Landau Brougham. Whilst a Texas springtime hailstorn pummeled my 2-door, we kept that super reliable and beautiful 4-door for 29 years. JJS

That is awesome. I owned a '65 T'bird, my first car. My parents didn't allow me to a 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A. Mom worked at a insurance company, lol. I took dad to see it, he said son, " You Mother KNOWS what that T/A means" . So my Parents bought me the T'bird down the street from our neighbors with my saved up money for 850 bucks. It had 70k miles on it in 1973. Loved that car. I wish I still had it. But😃 drank gas like water! I think it was my parents idea all the time to keep me broke and at home.

What a terrific video...and it is sheer class for Thunderbird in the first segment to highlight the features of a bare-bones non-optioned example. This shows that not only was the 1967 the absolute best of the series of this body from 1967 to 1971, but 1967 was also a year that could rest on its basic good qualities without having to show off optional extras.

I agree that the 67 was the best of this generation. The large instrument pods & the levers on the dash gave it a jet aircraft feel that the 68-71 couldn't quite match. I also prefer the 2 door hardtop over either landau model because of the metallic dash being more aircraft like & the cleaner exterior styling

A friend bought a ‘67 T-Bird coupe used in the early 1970’s. I remember how smooth and quiet it rode. One thing Ford should have done is made the 428 cu in standard for ‘67. The 430 cu in was standard in the Buick Riviera in ‘67.

Yes. Buick Riviera, Olds Toronado, and Cadillac Eldorado. The 390 just wasn't quite up to those levels of the GM cars. But, in 1968, Ford finally got smart with the standard 429.

The Thunderbirds in this video have the very very rare front pre-production "Fender Fins"! The early promotional 1/24th scale models had them also. I think that they look great on the car. You can tell it's a swanky car by the music... Not everyone was sold on power windows in the 60s.. Cadillac Calais did not have standard power windows until '68, and most, if not all, of the upper-mediums did not come with power windows, save the very top trim level. Thunderbird's power windows cost $104.00, which is almost a grand in 2024 dollars.
