I’ve been driving this van for months now and I’ve got some things to add for potential buyers. Pro: Comfortable drive, great lighting, good storage, adaptive cruise is great Now the Bad: a never ending list of electrical issues. Ranging from phone connectivity that changes every time you go to drive, automatic wipers that have a mind of their own, parking sensors working most of the time but then cut out, alarm will go off randomly…and often, at least once a week I will have around 5 error messages come up, voice activation is concerningly bad, phone will also cutout randomly when on a call if you touch any controls on the touchscreen. Lastly the door hinge pins were rusted from delivery and have progressively got worse. This causes but front doors to squeak all the time. There a many more but don’t come to mind.

ford aus have never ever tried to actually sell the transit to tradies in aus. i have visited 3 diff ford dealerships that were atleast 25kms from each other and to get a consistent answer and actual looking at and test driving stock in aus has been unbelievably difficult. i could get a renault trafic or ldv g10/v80 10 times over compared to actually dealing with ford aus.

I have a big van and want to down size to this size van. Im leaning heavily to the Peugeot Expert. After driving them all NOTHING even came close.

@robvanduren761 Mate I Purchased a Peugeot Expert Premium as an upgrade to my vito and what a van the Peugeot is, it's way more responsive than the vito, getting an average of 6.8L per 100 fully loaded approx 1100klm per tank was only get 750-800klm on the exact same tank size on the vito. And this cost me nearly $15k less than the vito with all the bells and whistle of the Premium pack and Subby Pack. Cannot fault this Peugeot in ride quality and build quality. In fact looking at this review of the Ford made me very happy cause the Peugeot is on par with this in almost every category but costs less and petrol at 6.8l compared to there 11l per 100 was insane, plus the expert is a calab with Toyota and most of the parts on the van are Toyota parts including the divine gearbox, so you know reliability is going to be outstanding. Highly recommended the Expert

Great review thanks.....bit worried about how secure the rear doors are, when open on a windy day? Previous model very secure there... How are they as it's the next van soon

Sadly the power and torque figures are too low, and driving the front wheels is not ideal. Why are there no petrol offerings in Australia.

Current owner of a 2019 with 240k on the clock and the only issue I've ever had is the alternator pulley seized under warranty at 200k. However I'm not impressed with this new one. Too expensive, no stays for the barn doors .and is it just me who thinks sticking the gear selector where the old ones wipers was is the dumbest thing any engineer came up with 🤦♂️. I guess ford engineers dont know of muscle memory. For the same money i can have a Renault master or a couple grand more a hiace slwb, both larger vans than the transit.

I'm geting 6.7L to 7.1L per 100km on my 2017 plate ford transit custom. so 8L per 100km on this new one is not good.

You’re probably the exception there. Clearly your driving terrain/speed are playing a huge part in that. Fully laden it’s common to average 9.5-10

I have just bought one of these new ford transit customs two weeks ago and it’s been back to the dealer twice. Sat nav not working. It leaks when it rains and you get wet feet. It’s not painted or sealed underneath and the wiring is exposed in all the wheel arches. For £50,000 you expect something much better. Don’t believe these reviews. They are all biased and paid to say good things. The new ford transit is rubbish. I’d return it if I could but I am stuck with the pile of crap.

I bought one and after 2 weeks is was sent back with problems. Ford then gave me a courtesy vehicle and within 2 weeks this was being towed away. I've had Ford since 2003 and these are the worst. Don't be fooled by the flashy tec. Build quality is shocking.

Oh, and I'm not slating Ford just the custom. I ended up rejecting the van and got a wildtrak, which is amazing.

All vans are technically better than the Hiace until you compare the badge. The Toyota badge is worth everything, even if the product itself is rubbish.
