Having a bit of fun and putting the TW to a bit of hard work and she was working hard! pulling six 12inch furrows at about 4.5mph, now all the ploughing is done the duals will be going on for top work

A bit nostalgic for me…… Nearly 20 years since I was last in the UK, but then for several seasons in the 1990s I used a similar TW25 and green five furrow rig to plough a couple of farms nearby in Cambridgshire….. After finishing shearing for north Bedfordshire shearing contractor. Then I was based at the St John's Arms in Melchbourne. Interesting to see the countryside in the videos. Must get back to check it out again some time. Was a bit of a step up on the MF35 I first ploughed with in Canterbury NZ back in the mid 1970s

Spent many an hour on a TW 25 great tractor 30 years ago! Before that I had 9700! Have to say though, when my old man got me a 4650 I thought I'd gone to heaven! The Ford couldn't hold a candle to the big JD! Great videos George! Takes me down nostalgia lane!😀

She's a good clean runner, some of the tws I've seen would be obscured by smoke when working that hard

why only 12inch furrows? is there something with the soil that you cant use 14 or 16inch plows

Nice Tw, maybe being a bit hard on her though. 1 furrow too many perhaps
@torbenalstrup39023 жыл бұрын
Its a 150 hp tractor. It should handle 6 x 12" just fine. Fords always smoke a little when they are put to work. That said the soil looks really dense. That can soon require 10% extra hp to pull the plough through
@dannymiester58253 жыл бұрын
@@torbenalstrup3902 it maybe 150hp but it's probably about 35 years old or more, I just meant maybe give the old girl a break
@kubanskiloewe3 жыл бұрын
hm, she´s doing quite well for her age.....we had a 150hp SAME and 5 furrow were max because tractor was perhaps not heavy enough.
@torbenalstrup39023 жыл бұрын
2 x150 liter of water in the front wheels on the Same does wonders. You are correct, tha Same ks kinda light. Good sometimes, bad in other situations
@torbenalstrup39023 жыл бұрын
Another thing that is almost always left out in the comments is which size cut. There is a significant difference in power requirement between a 16" and a 20". 5 x 16" in normal to clayish soil should be a piece of cake to pull for a 150 hp tractor, whereas 5 x 20" can put a 150 hp tractor to work.

Wow we put the duels on for this work to eliminate any wheel slippage, slipping wheels is a waste of fuel and power, we have even gone to the radials for the bigger foot print the tires have.
