@@lucozade8373 Look, for those really interested in these things... Every one knows how Ford tried to buy Ferrari to expand his corporation, but Enzo Ferrari said no, since his only passion was racing... he built cars just to finance THAT. So Henry Ford II tried then to bully Ferrari by beating him at his on game: racing... (wich worked once... or twice?!, who cares) by hiring the best engineer he could find and the best driver... and it ended how it ended... Here is a link, if you don't believe me: www.sportscars.tv/Newfiles/66fordbuyferrari.html
@dukecraig24025 жыл бұрын
@@Skerdy What your link doesn't go into, and I'm curious to see if the movie really covers it correctly, is that it wasn't really Ford engineers that straightened out the GT40 to the point where they took a 1,2,3 finish at Le Mans, it was Holman and Moody, a Charlotte NC based performance shop that had a racing contract with Ford, the first version of the GT40, the MK1 was basically a British Lotus race car that they tried a Ford V8 in, to quote Lee Holman it was an "abortion", Holman and Moody re-engineered the car pretty much from stem to stern, the aerodynamics, suspension, steering, brakes and pretty much everything else was redesigned by H&M and that's the car that actually was the success. The story the movie makers should have told was the one of Max Balchowsky and his wife Ina, they hand built a car from scrapyard parts in 1959 that beat EVERY European sports car thrown at it in SCCA competition for over 10 years, Max and Ina built the car on nothing more than their garage floor and powered it with a 401 Buick Nailhead engine at a total cost of just over $1,600, they beat Ferrari, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Alfa Romero and even the Maserati Birdcage which was supposed to be the most advanced race car in the world at the time, Carroll Shelby, Dan Gurney and many other famous drivers of the time were all co-drivers at various races throughout the cars racing career, they named the car Old Yeller after taking inspiration from the Disney movie, they equated the car with a junkyard dog, and it beat EVERYTHING. Max Balchowsky is the man who set up the 2 Mustang's and 3 Chargers for the movie Bullitt along with too many other movie cars to list, check out Max and Ina's story by Googling "Max Balchowsky and Old Yeller II" it's truly inspirational and it's the real "David vs Goliath" story in motorsports.

Not unusual for vintage vehicles especially vintage Ferraris. The Ferrari 250 GTO is around $50+ million and an actual Ford GT40 used in '66 would probably cost around $20+ million. Just those two alone are already around $70+ million.

one thing is true : Ferrari is still around in GT and F1 racing .. where is Ford ???? in Le Mans 1966, Ford did not beat Ferrari, they beat the rules .. like they recently did in WEC racing, to disappear after 1 year, because you can cheat once, not all the time ...
@patvgFORZA5 жыл бұрын
@Seraph909 What you say is historical correct. As is the fact that today Ford is paying every year around 10 Mio $ to the owner of the Le Mans track ACO (Automobile Club d'Ouest) to have the 2 last corners (chicane + last one before straight) named "the FORD curves" (like the is also the "Porsche curves"). And ACO is also the organiser of the 24H of Le Mans. And ACO decides on the BOP (Balance of Performance) which is supposed to make cars from different constructors equal in performance = lap times (they do this balancing by changing weight of the car, driving height, air-intake/restrictors, limiting the air pressure on the turbos, .... Every single 24H of Le Mans Porsche is spending on top tf the annual fee they pay to have the Porsche curves having their name , around 12 Mio € for just renting hospitality space around the track from ACO. And Ford has spend 8 Mio the past 4 years, per year on that. Ferrari NEVER has purchased any service from ACO, so if they win ,they really are the best (car). I say this because this is the truth, not because I am a blind Ferrari fan .... I have been driving Le Mans track, I raced it a couple of years ago .. in a 488 Ferrari ...

The Problem with CGI is not CGI in and of itself. CGI Can look great, indistinguishable from reality, BUT!!! we must not forget several things which brings CGI down. the First of which is how its used. SOOOOOO many productions have mis-used cgi and vfx in the worst ways possible, because the writers of the films have stretched way and beyond production costs, and look to cgi to provide miracles that more than often can be solved practically. But to do practical effects, means that the directors must find solutions to their problem and or accept what he or she has shot during principle photography, They must work things out prior and get it in camera. This use to be the case with film productions until the use of CGI, which enables directors to break all basic film making rules and execute every bad idea and mistake possible. The biggest of all is the simplest to get right, and thats the use of the CG camera. CGI is almost always detectable not always due to the render quality, but rather the use of the camera. Simply put.. in reality the camera is constrained to whats physically and practically possible unlike The cgi camera which is capable of doing anything. As such directors and writers come up with ideas that are more surreal and fantastical than reality, which immediately breaks the believably of the shot. Camera flying around 10,000 mph in grandees panoramic shots. flying under cars through windows or traveling with a bullet as it goes through the victims body. All things that could just about never be pulled off in reality. Cgi visual effects does not mean money making shot. but that's how hollywood has treated it, they use CGI as a means to uplift their bad stories, as such the Effect has evolved into a gimmick. As for the look of cgi, again, this depends on the production and the production time fame and budget. Prior cgi in films, a small budget ment either changing the story to best fit the budget, or reducing desired ideas to fit the budget or doing things really really cheaply. And making do with the results. With the introduction of cgi, it enabled writers and directors to get much of what they desired. The best films used the best studios who had access to the best talent, which were well funded and had the best tools available. Small to low budget films typically has directors and writers looking to impress the world, often going far beyond their budgets with grandiose ideas, hoping CGI will be inexpensive enough to get their dreams done. Problem is, underpaid crews, far less talent, and not enough proper tools and equipment to get all the work done. And to make matters worst. Big budget films, mis use their budgets, pilling it all into the top 10% of production directors actors, principle photography elements and personnel. leaving the scraps for post and cgi, which are asked to do 70% or more of the actual film!!!! which leaves vfx houses underpaid overworked and in a financial hole. If you remove cgi from productions today. almost no production could be completed. CGI is so required in todays film making that without it, virtually no standard film could be made. Even when people claim films to be practical. they are not. Post today is cgi, color grading, digital cleanup and alterations. cgi, compositing, cgi. Principal photography use to take several months of shooting, Today its at best a month. 3 to five weeks of on site filming, unless its a major Major block buster film with chapters. what has reduced the time-fame for PS... The use of CGI. fix it in post.
