When I was in Kindergarden, the teacher gave us all pictures of a duck And some crayons. She said we are to color the duck and cut it out afterwards. So I grabbed a purple crayon and went crazy, gavem an orange bill. She was upset, she asked why did I color him the wrong color. I told her, everyone else is coloring them yellow, I thought purple looked better. She then told me I had to start over anyway, because I didnt color inside the lines. I ofcourse said I had no reason too, we are cutting them out anyway.. She couldn't accept it and failed me. She also seemed to be upset that I signed my name in cursive..

I love this . As a ford guy I don’t think gm copied ford but they knew a good design when they saw one . But what I find particularly irritating is the people that say ford copied gm with the new 7.3 Godzilla platform
@matthewq4b3 жыл бұрын
Actually, the 7.3L Godzilla is an updated FE motor. Dimensionally they are similar design-wise they are similar. And GM pretty much did copy the Ford small block with the LS engines. There are more similarities to the SBF (like to the point, the heads will bolt on the SBF) than there are differences.
@RUBIZEN3 жыл бұрын
@@matthewq4b What other similarities? If you point out non siamesed exhaust I would point out that lots of car companies used non siamesed heads on inline 4 and 6 cylinders engines. The first piston engines were steam so ford and chevy both copied engines that used pistons. As far as bolt pattern: figure out the bore, put a bolt hole in the middle of the thickest metal and don't be surprised if a LOT of heads bolt to it. Not starting a fight but engineers have been tossing around and reusing previous ideas for a long time.
@matthewq4b3 жыл бұрын
@@RUBIZEN NO lots of motors with similar and the SAME bore spacing as the SBF NONE of them have the head both pattern. the only heads that will bolt to the SBF are SBF heads and LS heads Hell the 300 I6 has the same bore as the SBF and has a different head bolt pattern. So give up that lame-ass excuse of bore similarities resulting in the same pattern. Furthermore, LS has the SBF's spark exact plug angle (only other engine to do so). Other things the LS ripped off from Ford the deep skirt block and the method of cross bolting, the rear main seal housing, oil pump and fitment. The tall ports were ripped off from the FE high risers, Hell they even used pedestal mounted rockers as Ford does. The bottom line is all GM did was take the SBF jam other Ford tech into it. GM copied the SBF to the point that even cylinder heads will swap. Looks like we have another butthurt bankrupt loving GM fanboy here, who can't handle fact.

And if you add ls engines you may run that up to 99% Does that mean they are better? No not really. Best thing with chevy they stay the course, ford likes to change everything every few months. Actually the LS design dated back to 1992 when the LT1 was introduced and was going to use optispark and reverse flow cooling until GM got sued over the reverse cooling by Evans cooling who held the patent design that GM used. The modular Ford was introduced in 1991 as the Lincoln Intech. It took GM 5 years before they released the LS1 for the new C5 Corvette in 1997.

I’m planning a LS head swap on a 351c. When you match the 351c heads, block, and deck height to a LS is remarkably similar. The hard part with be the custom grind cam, but I’ve reach out to a few companies for that. Also, I know people will ask why, so here my reasoning behind it. One, cost of a used pair of LS heads $500 vs TRF head $3500, LS heads flow the same if not more then the TRF heads. Secondly, EFI intake for a 351c in $900 plus vs a LS junkyard intake $20, and GM pcm and harnesses are plentiful. Finally, I don’t have the money for new speed part as the used Cleveland part are hard to find. Adapt and overcome!

Perfect example of not knowing why ford went to splayed valve heads on the Cleveland and BOSS 302, and all the benefits of moving a huge amount of air efficently, no disrespect for the endeavor, but you can bolt a set of trick flow splayed valve cleveland heads on any windsor and be light years ahead of any other conventional valve layout head you can put on A little unknown fact the LS platform was going to have splayed valve heads but a certian very well known individual that has done endless R&D for all the big 3 Chevy, Ford, Dodge and more had designed and patented his own symetrical port splayed valve small block heads and the LS prototypes were a direct copy which would have forced GM to pay HUGE royalties and or copyright infringement so that was the end of that

There also is that old Chevy Nova 153 4-cyl that would accept an LS head way better than the old small block head that they adapted. And the Mercruiser marine engine based on the same.

I seen a video a year or two ago with someone that mounted Hemi heads on a Ford motor the other thing I've seen done in the work is a 302 motor flip-flopping the rods and pistons around changes the stroke a little gets a little more power old trick from the sixties or seventies I guess

To change the stroke the crank has to be changed. Flopping the pistons around moves the piston/connecting rod offset to the other side which keeps the piston at top dead center for a few degrees longer, giving the motor a little more torque. Piston pin offset was a thing that was done to quiet a motor down.
