Fordson Major Rear Axle Seal

Description of what is involved in replacing a rear axle seal on a Fordson Major E1A.

You need to do a video on removal of the bearing. Most mates are clueless as how to do it. Use a large knife pulled connected to two threaded rods and screw plate with sharpened bolt pushing on end of axle in small hole. Tighten bolt to pull bearing off. After new seal has been put on axle drop bearing down axle shaft and use a long heavy steel pipe and slam it on or press it on with an axle bearing press.

You don t have to remove the rear tires just the wheels, just 6 size 38 mm nuts + conic washers.

How do you go about setting the preload on the two tapered bearing if you were to change the bearings aswell. Thanks in advance

Unfortunately no, I had to use a bearing puller and some heat to get the bearing off the axle so I could change the seal.
