Fordson Major Tractor Ford 2700 Series 6 Cylinder Industrial engine swap. 120 BHP

A short video showing a walk around of my Fordson Major Tractor following modifications converting it from is original 4 cylinder 40 odd horsepower to a Ford 6 cylinder industrial engine approx 120 horsepower.

Nice job,but your front axle support links need to pivot in line with front mounting pin or will bind over rough ground.

I am putting a complete new bonnet one,thats if i can get hold of the man who makes them. Im overhauling the whole front end,new stubaxles,bushes, etc and new hubs to convert to steel wheels

Engines hunting a bit and can see fuel dripping from overflow pipe which is never good plus thats an old Trader/Dagenham fuel filter on it but I like the engine swap.

I learned in one of those but very good 4 cylinder engine fordson power mejor

Is that hand gas only or did you install foot gas too?

Have you had to use a conversion plate or just that 6 just bolt up to the major/super major box? Do you have to make any alterations to chassis or engine mounts? Cheers nice lump sounds sweet

Hi. The engine and clutch just mated up with the backend of the tractor without any modifications. The very bottom lower bolt hole was the only thing that did not line up correctly.

I put a 2713e in mine and the bottom 5 or 6 holes sump holes dont match up with the gear box, did you have any issues with this? Im going in the dirrection of welding on some studs or making a plate, what did you do. I take it is a very similar engine? cheers

Hi. It was just the very bottom sump hole on this engine that did not line up. From memory i think we made some kind of clamp, just to add some additional clamping force between the two mating parts.

There is a kit available to join the P6 engine to the original gearbox in the Fordson Major.

Hi. I purchased the engine from a tractor puller, he had been using it in a tractor previously, i believe he then swapped this engine for something bigger and with turbo. The engines were originally used in boats etc.
