I have been doing industrial maintenance for the better part of 30 years. The video that you have shared is one of the most detailed, informative, and precise procedures that I have ever seen. I wish that just 10% of the work that I have performed would have came with instructions like these. But then again, the experience is what separates a true technician from a parts changer. Thanks for the video and the expert advice that you provided to make life a little easier for the rest of us. You didn't have to but you took the time to do it.
And you're calm demeanor. I didn't hear the f word one time 😂 and from my experience with the 6.0 that's near impossible

How do I know that the turbo is problem w engine? What if I replace it and still have same problem? What is my test b4 I remove? Also about how much time should this take? What is parts cost? I was driving, not pushing hard. A big BOOM under hood. No place to pull over, I continued driving 10 miles, reduced speed to home base, greatly reduced power. How do I know it was not something else wrong? Pressure pump u mentioned?
@VividBoi14 күн бұрын
I know it’s too late but I had this happen along with a reduction of power. My turbos intercooler popped out of the boot. Just simply had to put it back in and tighten the hose clamp better than the last guy and have been fine.
@billjones517814 күн бұрын
@ thanks for your reply. I did a lot of inspection of system and found the intake intercooler pipe into the turbo had blown in the flexible elbow near the radiator. Apparently the pressure just blew it like a balloon exploding. I replaced it myself. Not too difficult. Ford had no parts in stock . I ordered replacement set on line, 3rd party, worked well, different color , but ok! Lots less money than factory.

Hi, I want to thank you for providing a video that actually shows what we need to see. I am replacing my HPOP on my 2006 6.0 F250. My truck is worth about $8000, and the idea of paying $4100 because my repair shop (Motion Automotive) "thinks" it is bad, and guessing they plan to replace extra parts later. It has actually been fun. I replaced all the o-rings (80), on the injectors and oil rails. If the HPOP isn't the problem, I will replace the injectors. I just think you are great for actually providing a well made video.Thank you. You go Dude!

Great video. I'm currently doing a HPOP STC fitting change and oil cooler change on a 2005 Excursion, and I got as far as removing the CAC tubes and air filter/intake tube assembly before I ran out of light. I remembered reading how difficult finding the turbo mount hardware was due to it being pretty cramped in the valley. But this video, with all of the detailed closeups really helped me out. Hopefully I'll be able to get the turbo out tomorrow and be one step closer to getting her running again.

Your video was great and helped me out emmensly but what u don't tell people is this video is for the mid year 2004 turbo removal! The 2003 to mid 2004 turbos are held on by that back bolt going in thru the back facing the front not straight down like the newer ones do, I felt around on mine for about 5 min's when I realize the bolt I thought was the right one actually turned out to be the right one and it takes a special wrench to get it off either u can make one or snap on now makes one and believe me it's a pain to get loose, other than that ur video is great thanks it did save me a lot of time,

Unless you are FordTechMakuloco or DieseltechRon RIP or a flat rate mechanic do your self a favor disconnect the batteries and remove the alternator. It is only 10-15 minutes extra and it makes so much more room to fight with the turbo that it is worth the extra time. Removing the alternator also lets you look at the belt and the pulleys at the same time which is especially important on a high mileage engine. Finding and dealing with a bad pulley bearing is a lot easier now than somewhere out in the middle of nowhere. Also it gives you a chance to inspect and clean the battery(s) terminals which could help to save your FICM so it really is a win win for just a little more work.

I got to call you out on this one thing. I like the idea of leaving the pedestal bolts loose to align the y-pipe and the downpipe . It seems like a great idea, but I have had trouble getting to those bolts once the turbo is mounted and you didn't show that part.
@FordTechMakuloco7 жыл бұрын
It works great been doing it for 10 years now, you just need the right adapters for the passenger rear bolt. The rest can be done very easy with basic universal.
@fattmouth77157 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your response. I myself have been working on these 6.0s for a few years. I have one currently that I am working on that has given me a lot of trouble. It is a vt365 international version of this engine in a heavier duty truck. This particular engine has injection control pressure problems. The power is low and the ICP runs at 90% under load and 90% while cranking during a hot start. I have changed the high pressure pump out twice ,once with a used pump and the second time with a brand new pump. I have changed the regulator out at least a half a dozen times. I have pressurized the W pipes on both sides with the regulator energized and also installed a dummy plug on each side to make sure that the system had no leaks with an air pressure gauge. I suspect base oil pressure as a problem. This engine, hot, will only produce 6 and a half to seven pounds of oil pressure while cranking. I tested another engine while cranking cold, It achieved 60 pounds of oil pressure. I also tore down the front of this engine and inspected the oil pump and regulator . I didn't find any problems there . As I said before ,I have worked on a lot of these engines and this is a new one to me. Do you have any thoughts on the matter?

I have already replaced the Exhaust with a Banks Turbo back system, that was a pain to get the 4" Pipe to connect to the turbo. The clearance was a big problem.
