I was warned not to buy a 6.4L Ron was the best at giving all the reasons not to buy my 2008 250. Had I seen any on Ron's videos prior to my purchase. The truck would still be mine, thinking I could fix it. Great mechanic and easy to converse with. Ron was a rare breed. I never got to meet this man, but I will miss him. Reminded me of my own father. Just a heck of nice guy, and friend to everyone.

This has been the most useful tech video I've seen, the detail is spot on. I'm sure this will save me a major headache should I break something while trying to fix another. The details on what to expect will keep me aware of all that needs to be done while lifting the cab to repair the up pipe flange leaks at the turbo. Sorry for our loss, Ron is the most amazing mechanic I've seen.

Helpful. Pulling the turbos was waaaay easier than I expected before watching the video. Be very careful with the 10mm uppipe bolts in the back of the turbo, they break without much torque.

I'm really impressed at how organized you are and how you can video while working.....WOW! We have a 2010 F350 6.4L diesel with what we've been told is a fuel problem. We're looking for a qualified mechanic to check it out because we're scared of the cost of the local Ford shop. It's a matter of time and we'll have to bit-the-bullet and get it into the shop. We were told it had gasoline put into the diesel. It had "one" turbo replaced a month or so before it quit running. I appreciate watching your videos as it gives me respect for what a mechanic must do to get the job done. Thanks!
@DieselTechRon8 жыл бұрын
It won't start now? may need a pump all the way to the whole system such as injectors, frame mounted pump, cleaned and a few lines. if it has metal contamination.
@sandhollowhomestead69728 жыл бұрын
+DieselTechRon Thank you for your rapid reply. No, it won't start but will turn over. The gas tank, lines have been cleaned and filters replaced. The mechanic who cleaned it was not a diesel mechanic but thought it was the high pressure pump. My concern is that it doesn't show a code for a failure according to the mechanic. Once with a qualified diesel mechanic I think we'll find the problem/solution. It has 175K miles so it's not like it was ridden hard. It's sat for 2 years now. Not good, I know. We just moved and are low on funds so I can't just shell out a lot of money, which it will probably take. Hard to make payments on a retired salary.

And some people complain that taking the turbo's out on the 6.0 are bad. The 6.4 turbo removal looks a lot worse than the 6.0, but if you look how Ron is doing it here , it still requires time, but his method does make sense considering how buried the turbo is. People say why did Ford do this and make it so difficult, but you have to remember that both Ford and Navistar have some culpability there in the design. Ford learned a lot from the 6.0 and 6.4's and it shows in the design of the 6.7's. Ford made some of the items that were difficult to get to and replace a lot easier to do on the 6.7's. Ron out of curiosity how long does it take to swap out the turbo on the 6.7''s?

I bought my 2008 f250 11 months ago, I purchased the extended warranty and had no problems until 2000 miles after my warranty ended, it started throwing a P0088 , I thought ok I'll have the hpfp replaceed,... I was unaware the cost and completely shocked that ford would put its name on something so costly to repair when it's only function is to extend the life of the lift pump in the fuel tank which in comparison is relatively inexpensive to replace, just how many f250 owners have an extra 10k laying around ? I sure dont, unbelievable, now I have a pile of junk that I can't make a living with.

I'm in the process of changing the turbo out on my 2008 f 350 super duty 6.4 l diesel. I am at the point where I'm trying to lift the body to allow for more space to work on the turbocharger. I have the bolts removed from the frame to the body but when I jacked up the body at the radiator support the frame comes with it. I was looking around to try to determine what is keeping the body stuck to the frame and I noticed that the radiator fan is inside the radiator cowling and there's only about a half inch clearance. How do I raise the body without damaging the fan cowling or damaging the fan?

6.7 is a good engine. get one 2013 or newer though. Ford has gotten back in the diesel game after many tough years. They all have emission system problems, but if you live in an area where you can delete that stuff it will be way more reliable.
