Is ASICS Novablast 5 The BEST Daily Trainer for 2025?

I use the novablast 4 for my long runs. Hearing the 5 is softer doesn't give me a great deal of optimism that it's going to last as long and will be as stable of a ride. Might just grab some 4's on sale. Still hoping to find a supeblast in my size some day.

Really liked the Novablast 3, currently on my third pair and skipped the 4. This looks like an improvement with better grip and a more breathable upper. Also love this colour way and just hope it's not too soft as the Nimble or something similar. Will give them a try for sure when they release and hope it can be a great shoe for my easy runs.

Thanks for comparison with the version 1. I absolutely adored the bounce and craziness of it and hasn't been matched since by other versions. Such a shame. Look forward to seeing an update with more miles.

I take your point about remortgaging - my wallet only extends to one pair at a time so need to make it count. The novablast 3 was my first, and loved it. Found the sizing in the 4 a bit off. Im certainly keen... I'm after a shie that i can enjoy trashing over the winter by hitting some long distance days. Inly problem is my ankles are sensitive to performance oriented shoes... if theres too firm padding they'll start swelling and its a downward spriral from there. If i can keep churninf thenroad miles out day after day until something nice hits the market for the summer season, i'll be happy as.

It sounds like they are making it more of a daily trainer precisely because of the upcoming Sonic Blast. By making it a daily trainer it is differentiating itself from the Sonic Blast. Asics really needed a plated trainer because of prosucts like the Puma Deviate Nitro 3 and the Saucony Speed 4 type shoes

Saucony have a new shoe out early 2025 called the Saucony Trainer (great name!), will have the same foam as the Elite 2 which Fordy loves! NB5 looks wonderful. So much choice, will wait to see how it's discounted in 7 months. Love my Saucony Speed 4.

I think I’m gonna skip this shoe, it looks like a really solid shoe but I think the competition is starting to become spectacular for similar money. SL2, Evo SL, Rebel, Mach 6 and even Nike have premium stuff in the Zoomfly for similar money.

@ for someone buying just 1 shoe this would be amongst the very best picks. But let’s be honest, most people get atleast 2, a proper max cushion and then a faster shoe and then the NB5 becomes more a “jack of all trades, master of none” shoe.
