I have an odd combination of small hand and long forearm and thought i didn't have the genetics for the sport. But i'm new to the sport and i'm progressing fast and have been focusing on finger strenght and pronation training from the start. I don't think my hand-genetics is gonna matter unless i come to a "high level", i think training the sport and strenght has a higher ceiling than genetics for amateurs. I've even found that "running away" is way easier for me when i face someone with a much bigger hand, and i've taken wins just by running upwards with pronation and posting. Thanks for the video, love you and your channel!

I was also wondering how does pressing fit in with the forearm length hand size equation. Some people seem suited to press and flop press, other people it doesn't look healthy.
@jesuschrist54175 жыл бұрын
I think if anybody can get to a press it's always good because your arm is so much stronger if you can get your shoulder behind it. The key is keeping your shoulder behind the arm though. Someone may be able to back pressure out of your press. That's just my experience. There's this guy I arm wrestle with, and he's a pretty good match against me, but as soon as I get my shoulder behind my arm there's no contest. I hardly feel him resisting. Do you have an example of someone who you think it looks unhealthy when they do it?

Thankyuuuuu My brother has a shorter forearm and yet a bigger hand than me (well, we have two of each) and he thought that it would be easier for a longer forearm to push/ pull the shorter one since he goes back to the science he learnt where a longer lever is easier to lift things with than if you were to use a short one but i think he forgot that the angle of the rotation from the ground to it centre as the object is lifted changes as well to make this so. Actually, i have no idea at all about levers and i believe he does know more but google is my friend and so you are too. Thankyuuu

Based on my biomechanics, it's not optimal, but I love the toproll and most forms of outside armwrestling. They come easily to me, and just feel natural. So, even though I'm 5'6'' with a small thick hand, and a 10.25'' wrist to elbow length I am probably not gonna be hooking that much. Wish me luck fellas, Ima need it.

I have a small hand (7 3/4 pinky to thumb due to short thick fingers but 4" across the palm, 3 3/4 across the knuckles) but somewhat wide meaty hand. Also measure 10" in forearm at 5'5" tall. Forearm is 12" around at the thickest and bicep is 16.5". So, I'm definitely in the short and stumpy category. I always found in my very low level arm wrestling (at bars and parties randomly) that I can just quickly overpower most guys bigger than me. On occasion someone who knows what their doing will use their big mit to get me into a bad hand position and I lose but I feel like my build makes me tough to beat for the average dudes that I come across. Even some guys I can't pin find it near impossible pin me because I keep my arm compact and close to my body, it's like trying to move a brick wall. But this is mostly against average guys that generally not training for arm wrestling so I suspect not so good on the competitive level.😂

I dont think it really matters unless you compete on Open classes, I’m a 5’4 guy with 44 cm elbow to fingertip length but I wouldn’t go higher than 165lbs in weight classes because my potential for muscle gain will be much less than a guy of 6’2 height and 52cm elbow to fingertip length. If I did compete on Open class I would be forced to hook every single match because of small hand disadvantage. It is just not realistic to fight higher weightclasses if you aren’t suited for them

Devil Within yes, that’s why I’m telling you, my whole elbow to fingertip is just barely 44 cm, with my whole hand being just 18 cm but 10 cm being for my fingers, the average guy armwrestling at their levels have like 48 cm elbow to finger tip measurement with 22 cm hand or bigger.
