I have a Foredom that I bought in the eighties to do acrylic nails. It came only with a foot pedal to control the speed and I still love it. I have no idea where I bought it but it had to be a nail supplier. I hope that it never breaks down!

I would like to request a video on using the hammer handpiece and the various attachments that you can buy to go with it. This would be an invaluable tool I think but honestly I would love to see how the other bits can be used as well. I just purchased my handpiece today and am looking forward to it, but need more information please!

Can you use the hammer hand-piece with the SR on a lower speed to avoid burning the hand-piece out?
@ForedomElectricCo5 жыл бұрын
yes
@felixf52114 жыл бұрын
I had a SR and now use a TX; I'm not a jeweler. The TX is used daily as a die grinder of sorts. The machine is essentially unstoppable. Handles 1/4" shanks with ease. As far as professional tools go, its cost is pretty reasonable, IMO. If you're buying a new flexshaft and debating whether a few more bucks for a metal pedal is worth it, let me assure you that it is - more control, noticeably easier to maintain a desired speed. I have a plastic pedal, too, on another machine. Wish I would have bought the metal one to begin with.

Hi! Which model of Foredom will be the best for gemstone carving? greetings!
@LaoZi20234 жыл бұрын
sounds to me like the LX would be the one that you want, wouldn't you? But then again, if the stones are large, maybe the TX?
@szymonpollak80964 жыл бұрын
@@LaoZi2023 probably TX will be better. I carve in jade, sometimes I need more than 5k RPM.

Hello I have a more than 20 yr old Foredam CC Series with 8 amps. It has served me well for a long time. I am interested in possibly using hammer hand piece to have flexibility in setting etc. What second Foredom would you recommend I purchase next?
@ForedomElectricCo4 жыл бұрын
You can use an H.15 Hammer Handpiece www.foredom.net/product/h-15-handpiece-hammer/ with a 20 year old Foredom that is still in good working condition - if you run the motor at lower speeds (0-5,000 rpm). For a new motor we usually recommend an M.SR flex shaft motor which is 1/6 HP, runs in forward and reverse at speeds up to 18,000 RPM, and offers all of the power and speed needed to accomplish most every job. M.LX motor has a maximum speed of 5,000 rpm and is designed for drilling, wax modeling, and other slow speed applications - but for not when you need higher speeds. Another way to make sure your motor is running slowly is a dial control. C.EM for an SR motor, and C.EMX for an LX motor. We have dial speed controls for older - even discontinued motors also. www.foredom.net/product-category/flex-shaft-tools/flex-shaft-speed-controls/ We have live chat Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (ET) on our website. Customer service can answer any questions you have.

I use the Foredom SR flex shaft motor, and like the reversible motor, as am left handed, a real help. Also, have one about 30 years old.

Hi Wayne Robbie from Liverpool England. Are the TX @ LK good for wood carving. And is there any significance in the Colour in the labels on the motors My SR motor is red. Cheers.
@ClevesBackyardWoodworking4 жыл бұрын
sr or tx for wood carving? I use dremel 4300 and if I can save some money up maybe looking at one of those.
@ForedomElectricCo4 жыл бұрын
Our best advice is to go with a model within the Series SR. Series SR flex shaft motors are 1/6 HP, run in forward and reverse at speeds up to 18,000 RPM, and offer all of the power and speed needed to accomplish most every job. Keep in mind that our motors are rated at continuous duty or maximum efficiency and NOT maximum output. If we adopted the max output rating used by other manufacturers, it would qualify as 1/5 or 1/4HP.

I sometimes see SR Motors with red labels, where is the difference to a blue label SR Motor? Thank you
@ForedomElectricCo3 жыл бұрын
If it is a real Foredom, the red label is 230 volt which is the type of electricity more commonly used outside the US. There are also knock off Foredoms that have red labels that could be any voltage. We do not honor warranty repairs for fake Foredoms and you can't count on our maintenance and replacement parts working for them. Usually information about electrical specs is on the back label.

LX looked to have a lot of runout considering the cost.
@felixf52114 жыл бұрын
FWIW, I've indicated two #30 handpieces - a bit over 2 thou runout. I did see the same thing as you and suspect the burr's shaft wasn't terribly straight.

ive got both the tx and the sr. and one other one in a box ive ye to use. I to use the 1/3 on jewelry with very minute touches to the foot control. been able to polish quite easily without issues. quite nice pieces I must admit. and yes the handpieces alone are NOT cheap.
