CELTIC, LEAVING BOLTON & THE BRADFORD CITY PAY OFF! - John Mcginlay

The second part of an interview with former Bolton Wanderers, Millwall, Bury, Bradford and Scotland international, John McGinlay. In this episode John reveals what went on, in arguably, one of the best play-off finals at Wembley. He explains what was said, who was the voice in the dressing room and which players defined the future of the club. He openly talks about Nat Lofthouse, one of Bolton's all time greats, celebrating with the team after that fantastic 2nd half show.
He explains his love for Burnden Park and which player was the greedy one in the team, also the signings that had a positive impact on the club. His recollection of Bruce Rioch leaving to go to Arsenal was a major disruption and who replaced him, turned out to be a disaster.
John reminisces about his time away playing for Scotland, were an unofficial approach from the Celtic manager, had him on the verge of signing for his boyhood favourite club.
In an emotional statement he declares how he was left heartbroken after his time at Bolton had come to an end. After finally hanging up his boots, a phone call from another club came and John was persuaded to give football one last go, were he met up with an old adversary.

Just loved listening to John & his stories, he has great way telling them, he keeps you engrossed. The Pakistan trip was brilliant not laughed as much or as hard for a long long time. I am Celtic fan & my English team has always been Liverpool. Me & my good mate actually got tickets for the 1995 Coca Cola Cup Final at Wembley what a day that was. We actually got the tickets free gratis from Owen Coyle who was an ex Airdrie teammate of good friend of mine John Martin the Goalkeeper who spoke with Owen & managed to get us the tickets. Me & my mate standing in Bolton end as Liverpool supporters was a lot of fun lol. Keep up the channel its fantastic & very good entertainment.

What a player John was I'd have loved him at Celtic in his prime he had that knack of putting the ball in the net, what would he worth in today's game? Mediocre players in England are going for big bucks but John had the minerals and knew where the goal was and he was brave as a lion as well. A fantastic player and an absolute top man as well if Celtic would've signed John and Owen Coyle too they'd be legends up here too as they were that good. It was a privilege to listen to a hero of mine talking so open and honestly as John did, he's about the same age as me and I hope he's got a lot of happy years to go yet, God bless him.

Hi Super John you just hit the nail on the head about Sasa! I happened to play a game of pool with Brownie down at the Jolly Carter in Little Lever and while chatting Brownie asked me what I thought of him, I said ' fantastic skills but not a team player problem is no one knows what ne is doing or where he is going with ball his head is always down over the ball and never looks who he is passing to' Brownie says yeah he's a socks player so I reply problem with that he doesn't know which player he is passing to! Result a couple of weeks later Sasa goes to Villa! Love you Super John all the best.

Thought John was as at Bradford longer, Chris kamara lives about 4 or 500 yards from me in Wrenthorpe Wakefield, his house is a beautiful old coach house.
