CBCS took Foriegn comics seriously long ago. Lots of foriegn collectors out there.

This is crazy. Those comics you have shown are only "foreign language" comics. Not international comics. The comics are all of American characters. I sent one book to CGC from China. Made & created by a Chinese CREATOR. They treated the book like trash. I call shenanigans. CGC is wilding out. Same characters & books different languages. Unreal that this a thing, when real foreign comics are ignored if it's not a free comic book day key. Again I call shenanigans. Lol😲😖

The U.K. price variants are way under valued. The are actually printed here in the USA! More rare in population!

I’m from Australia and I appreciate foreigns as it recognizes comic collecting is truly global. The industry has been (rightfully) very US (and to a lesser extent UK) centric. I have FF 48 and 49, DD 1, Marvel Spotlight 5 and Tomb of Dracula 10 in foreigns. They sit proud next to my US editions.

Solid stuff bro. I think CGC covered it right. They have to acknowledge that these other countries have some good things going for them. It doesn't take away from what happens in the US.

The only foreign books I have collected are a few foreign Editions of GI Joe #21, the silent issue. I love these Editions and would like to have CGC grade them in the future. These books are very hard to come by and I feel like they probably should have more value.

I got interested in this subj about 6 mos ago when I was on a tear for 1st app Deathlok and could only find decent value and good cond for the British versn. I was discouraged by cronies in that it wouldn't have any value later, so I acquiesced, spent more than I wanted, and hate the copy I have. I ain't listenin' to those cronies not never no more.

You can get Foreign comics from Canadian comic shops. They are known to carry them. And it doesn't hurt to friend someone in a Foreign country to send you some and vice-versa.

In relation to key books, I think the closer to the original US release a foreign issue is (and it could be concurrent) the more valued it will be and less considered a type of reprint.

I have to admit I would never purchase a foreign copy of a book. I do think they are valued correctly lots of people feel like me and just won't buy them. So they aren't worth as much because only a limited amount of people are interested in them. Remember prices are driven by supply and demand.

@@RegieCollects I definitely agree Regie there are more people in the world, than in the US. And my perspective is only what I see here in America the real question I cannot answer is what does a person from those other countries feel the value is. Additionally as the biggest marketplace for American style comics a majority of comic collectors worldwide I would wager are here in America. I honestly believe this speculation on foreign comics is not going to ever come to fruition and I would advise against investing in them.

@@jacob_comics The value of foreign books is rising, in some cases sales of the foreign edition of an American book have eclipsed the American grade for grade. Discount these books at your own peril.

It's nothing more than an easy money maker for CGC. There is no sense for them not grading these books and missing out on the dough. These books will never go main stream in America, but you can be sure those that speak the language would embrace them. The only "foreign" books I have interest in are the UK/Pence variants. They are in English and were printed in America for the British market. As such, they are extremely rare if you check them at the CGC registry. Personally, I have no interest in buying ASM #1 in Farsi. Still, nobody has ever gone broke underestimating public taste. Thanks for posting. Best to all. Make Mine Marvel (in English, please).

Hate to tell ya but you're wrong.... those of us that dabble in this niche exclusively have seen explosive growth in this part of the hobby. In fact, in some instances we have seen the foreign edition sell for more then the American grade for grade. #truth

What I find interesting is that CBCS has always treated Foreign comics with the respect with proper labeling and treated them as if they were from the US, whereas CGC didn't. CGC would mislabel the publishers and write reprint with no other labeling like 1st appearances, but CBCS has always printed their labels correct from day one. It seems they're finally jumping on the bandwagon of Foreign. Its wild that CGC is getting recognition for changing their ideology when it comes to foreign editions but no one talks about how CBCS were for doing it before them.

I don’t think it’s wild at all. CBCS doesn’t not market itself. If you’re unwilling to talk about what makes you great and different why would anyone else? Pause. Companies with the best service in the world still market themselves because waiting for someone else to recognize you, doesn’t work. I recently ordered a few more foreign editions for my X-Men collection. I've got French, Japanese, German, Australian, Spain, and UK versions of a couple of my favorite issues and I get a real kick out of it. I also coincidentally got my first graded comics. I didn't get as much joy out of those, but it's interesting to see the two meet. It will certainly help me know what I'm trying to track down, because it's hard to know what you're looking for sometimes.

Dude ever since cgc started grading toys and other things.their doing to much! They take forever getting back comics back and their grading is not good its because they have ro many things going on and us America comic collectors are getting screwed

Oh really,anyways I have freind he got a slab back graded a 9.4 he was mad broke it out and sent it back for grading and came back a 9.8 so how do u go from 9.4 to a 9.8? Cgc just has been not good

Very interesting they would apply a "first appearance " on a later foreign reprint. Otherwise, I am glad they are putting more organization to these foreign comics editions. Some can be really cool. And some can be affordable ways to own "keys", even if it's technically a reprint of the key issue. I personally try to collect 1 or 2 from every country. So I have a French Flash, a German Batman, a Mexican Tarzan.

The foreign books will really explode like crazy in the future...i sell german modern and bronze age books to US customers...and the amount of books that got sold on US ebay and the prices just grew exponentially over the last years...and this is just the beginning...wait a few more years and all those stuff will be crazy expensive...it is already getting super hard to find copies at all of some books..rare books+increasing demand: increasing prices =)
