It's important to remember these guys are a freighter crew. It's not a warship and they aren't explorers (it's not Star Trek). It's just a job you do for the paycheck, which is why people are asking to be paid extra for extra duty doing something weird.

I saw this movie when it first came out in the theaters, and I thought it was going to be a fun, enjoyable, sci-fi film like Star Wars. It didn't take long for me to realize that "Alien" is a sci-if horror movie. I was alone in the dark theater, so it was extra scary. 😨
@zacharyjoy8724 Жыл бұрын
Did you imagine that the Xenomorph was there in the theater with you, waiting to strike?
@willmartin7293 Жыл бұрын
Yes, it was my first true horror movie, so I was pretty freaked out, especially since you don't actually get a good look at the Alien until the very end. I wasn't checking the empty seats behind me, but for most of the movie, the feelings of horror and dread were constantly trying to overwhelm my sense of reason. And it didn't end when I left the theater. By the time I got to my car, it was late at night and very dark outside. When I got inside the car and started to turn on the ignition, I suddenly had a terrible sensation that something was on my backseat, so I jerked around in terror that I was about to be attacked by something horrible.@@zacharyjoy8724

When I saw the movie at the theater I, and some other people in the audience laughed our asses off when the alien jumped out of the stomach. That was a crazy scene. I mean, in the nautical tradition, there have been ships specifically dedicated to hauling _freight,_ ships specifically designated for _exploration_ and ships specifically designated for _rescue._ These are _distinctly different_ types of watercraft with distinctly different types of _personnel_ manning them. You don't assign _one_ of these types of vessels to serve the purpose of one of the _others._

When Kane woke up and said he dreamt of smothering it means he dreamed that he could not breathe properly. Got to love how the first thing you thought about when Kane felt sick and the alien was bursting out was the food. :) The minutes didn't go fast; ten minutes to self destruct, five minutes before it can't be turned off. Then the alien was between her and the shuttle so she couldn't get to the shuttle. And then one minute to turn off self destruct, but she was too slow. Then five minutes of the ten minutes before self destruct were left. It's confusing, yes. It's an amazing movie. I love it so much. Really happy to see you enjoy it.

A lot of people were confused as to why Ash tried to kill Ripley with a magazine, the answer is he's a robot, he's not programmed to kill but he's been given a directive that requires he do it. This is a machine's attempt to perform a truly creative task (technically a destructive task), you get a pretty random result.

That was great, you can see why it's my favourite xD Fantastic cinematography, the sound, the alien and set designs. That "white thing" was the alien's 2nd mouth, it has one on it's tongue. The alien, egg and facehugger had a reproductive cycle like that of ants or bees. That's why at the end the alien was "sleeping" having completed it's job in infecting the captain it was now looking for somewhere to die. Probably the best film creature ever created, a lot of thought went into it. So now you'll have to watch Aliens the sequel, it's more of a sci-fi action movie than a horror one but a great movie... just not as good the first, tho many people disagree on that xD

As a boy this film (I saw it at the movies) shocked me to the core. I grew up on films where the captain lead the crew out of situations and this deals with the captain (Tom Skerritt as Dallas) so suddenly.
