I worked out in the same gym as Lou Gramm in Henrietta, NY. I recognized him and left him to work out in peace - he approached me and said hello with the sweetest and kindest smile. Thats how we do it in Roch- cha-cha. They deserve their privacy too.

When veteran British guitarist and songwriter Mick Jones found himself stranded in New York after the collapse of the Leslie West Band in 1976, he decided to try and get another band together there. He got together with New York keyboardist Al Greenwood, and hooked up with transplanted Englishman and ex-King Crimson member Ian McDonald and another fellow Brit in drummer Dennis Elliott. Backtrack about a year or so, and Jones was in Rochester performing with the band Spooky Tooth, when a young Lou Gramm had given Jones a copy of his band Black Sheep's first album when they met backstage. Jones happened to pull out the album, listened to Gramm’s vocals, and promptly recruited him as his new band’s lead singer, sending him a plane ticket to New York City. Brooklyn bass player Ed Gagliardi was the final piece of the puzzle. A band name, "Trigger", was tentatively agreed to and was the name that appeared on their demo tape, but it was passed on by all the record companies it was delivered to… They soon ditched the Trigger name, and Jones came up with “Foreigner” because no matter what country they were in, three would be foreigners, because he, McDonald and Elliott were English, while Gramm, Greenwood and Gagliardi were American. In November 1976, after six months of rehearsals, the newly named Foreigner started recording this excellent debut album. The LP has the hit “Cold as Ice”, and other hard core Foreigner fan favorites like "Long, Long Way from Home," "The Damage Is Done" “Starrider”, “Headknocker”, "Feels Like the First Time", and "Fool for You Anyway". The album peaked at #4 in the US, and #9 in Canada and Australia.

In 1979KIS were also singing at double time for the same reason .... coke, Drummer Peter Criss and lead guitarist Ace Frehley were often wacked out. The '79 KISS tour after about September was a disaster with cancelled shows and poor performances with Peter Criss either too high on coke or drunk.

it is speedy, but the actual song on the record is only 2:55, so subtract the 1:04 introduction on this video and it leaves 2:50 total and they basically end the song at 3:40, so they did it 20 seconds faster than the LP original.

@@waltersimmons946 alcohol is a depressant which slows you down and your lead singer would be slurring. It's also the 80's. Cocaine-the breakfast of champions for rock stars.

@@tomdulle1707 Lou Gramm wasn't "slurring" on none the songs on that particular concert or doing anything unusual. It seems your hearing went to HELL from all that snorting. Cops 👮‍♂️ don't need a dog with you around.

@tomdulle1707 2 жыл бұрын
@@waltersimmons946 genius if he was drinking he’d be slurring. That’s my point smart guy. Back then rock bands routinely did blow which resulted in performances uptempo, hence point I made that alcohol is a depressant. Vocals would be slurred and their tempo slower if they were drunk
@waltersimmons946
@waltersimmons946 2 жыл бұрын
@@tomdulle1707 You're still judging without evidence "smart guy" , I'm aware they had parties after the concerts and did things on their own time. But here's what you missed, FOREIGNER is a band not known for glamorous fashion or big scandals in the fake news tabloids, so your opinion is just that an opinion. Whether it was cocaine or Kool-aid, who cares ?, They always delivered on concert night thats what counts. Don't get mad, get glad. Lol, by the way if you haven't you should read Lou Gramms book, JUKE BOX HERO MY 5 DECADES IN ROCK N ROLL . He talked about the drugs and alcohol and when he returned to Foreigner in 1992, he told Mick jones, after his rehab stint at Hazeldon in Minnesota that he turned his life over to Jesus Christ and would not be part of that scene anymore, Lous been sober for 31 years now and Tom, he left Foreigner in 2003 because of Micks alcoholism and old wounds that caused Lous first departure in 1990. That's right Lou changed, it was Jones who could not relinquish those nasty habits as a result , IN 2011 Mick had a heart attack, a heart valve problem, a throat tumor and medication he was taking brought him to a nervous breakdown where he couldn't play the guitar for a while, now Foreigner performs a lot with NO original members.

This is one of my favorite Foreigner songs but i've never heard this song played so fast before. I think the drummer might be the problem. He appears to speed it up on this song for some reason. He did this on another youtube clip on the same song at another live Foreigner show, too. He's a good drummer but he gets a bit too busy back there during live shows. He tries to do a bit too much. It's as if he is a progressive rock drummer who happens to be in the wrong band or something.
