I grew up during this time. I was about 14 or 15 years old when this came out. I can still remember driving back roads in a '71 Ford pickup with a straight 6 and a 4 speed steering column shifter. It was a cold, rainy, Fall Saturday, much like some of those we've had in recent weeks. We lived in Keller, Texas. My mom and dad were gone somewhere, possibly Christmas shopping, and I awoke fairly early. Still in my socks and shorts and a t-shirt, going to the kitchen to get some cereal and milk, I noticed the keys sitting on the kitchen counter. Without hesitation and with no regard for my attire, I shot out to the reddish-brown truck, hopped in and sped off...I didn't go probably more than a mile before I started thinking that I had better head back home and hope I don't get stopped by the police (I still had only a "learner's permit" to drive, meaning only when accompanied by an adult driver). So I started looking for a place on the narrow country road to turn around. While looking I switched on the radio to Q102 or possibly The ZOO 98 FM, and this song was just starting. Man, I had to keep driving until it was over. Lucky the song was under 3 minutes, or I might have ended up a long, long way from home myself. This song is one of those that burns a memory into your brain when you hear it the first time. In fact, the whole album is like that. Every song is so monumental in its composition. Every instrument is played so well and every voice is sung so sweetly and with so much emotion that you are totally drawn into the lyrics and swept away by the originality and charisma of this band and its music. What an excellent performance this was, despite being obviously many years later. These guys were gods to me and my brother back in the day. They didn't let me down here either. Thank you for the post and the memories.

Whatever, whom ever keeps this great band on stage works for me. Kelly knows what a great singer he’s covering and clearly is loving singing it. Stayed spot on the original vocal delivery of the song. Does anyone have a problem with Jeff Pilson from Dokken playing bass, he wasn’t the original bassist, lol.😂

There are a lot of very good rock songs. But this one is legendary, for its own reasons. There is amazing harmony between the sax and the rest of the ensemble and they add more licks to the piece that fit in D flat minor and more importantly the final chord is D flat major which is brilliant. Amazing song.

Dear Charlene❤️ nice that you are so euphoric about Kelly. I'm also an enthusiastic Foreigner fan. Foreigner released their first record in the late 70s - I was twelve years old and grew up with the band. I was able to experience Foreigner live for the first time in 1987 on the Zeppelin Field in Nuremberg - it was a great gig. I've seen Foreigner with Kelly three times. Both singers are great performers you should never compare them. I have a lot of emotions with Foreigner, I love both. Foreigner is an exceptional band for me - they can play anything and always arouse a lot of emotions in me. The songs are also very different from what I love about the band. With other bands it is often like this: if you know one song then you know all of them. Have a nice weekend🤩🤘👍
@charlenewebb18023 жыл бұрын
@ I thank you for your comments. They're always welcome 😊 I do love Foreigner then and now. You are right I shouldn't compare Lou and Kelly they're both great. I just get ticked off when they say Kelly isn't a great singer. I was born before Elvis started singing so I have being around a long time. I also love alot of bands. Love Black Sabbath, Dio, Boston, Journey, Rush, and the Scorpions to name a few. have a good weekend also. Stay safe. I will be glad when this covid 19 is over.🤘🎶

Tim Horak I loved the old Foreigner but I think your wrong. I love the sound of Kelly Hansen's voice better. I think he gives a better performance. He acts out the songs with hand motions to the way he moves and it makes you feel each song. I think he has a sexual attraction to him that to me is much more than Lou's had or has. I wish people would get off Kelly's case. No one could be a better lead singer for Foreigner than he is in my opinion. The songs were great then and are better now.
