Enjoy the smiles and surprise on locals' faces as I speak to them in their local language in India! And laugh at my Hindi too if you're a native Hindi speaker =D Jai Hind.
For everyone commenting on my use of "tu" (intimate form of "you"): In Haryana people use tu commonly, even for elders. So that's why I was practising with it in some sentences. Most of this was filmed in Haryana. Outside of Haryana its use is considered offensive. Haryanvi is a very informal dialect.

@@arya-hp6dj I love India so much I can never get bored there. So much going on it is like being on another planet that I love. My late husband and I fell in love with the country on our first visit and he didn't want to go there originally. When he expired I took his ashes up in a hot air balloon over the Aravali ranges and also to Allahabad and Varanasi. It was his wish and mine will join him there when I pass. May his soul rest in peace. I visit India twice a year now because I'm old. Covid has put a stop to that right now. I will be back. Most of my friends in Australia think I am crazy to like India. My last visit was February last year.

I would like to say one thing: Karl you are a really beautiful human being. Going to some other country and loving and accepting it, requires lots of guts, open mindedness and compassion. Sometimes I wonder how can a person be willfully so attached to some other culture. The way you love India and endorse it like its your own country gives me chills. I think you meant to say: "If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart." It's a good quote by Nelson Mandela, but it'll do you good to get it right next time.

I P You'd be wrong to assume that places like Gujarat speak Hindi all over. It's mostly limited to urban areas while rural non-hindi-belt India definitely has little use for the language. I'm basing my figure off of the 2001 census. Hindi may have a plurality but is in no way the country's main language.

@@llllll1897 Hi, we have 3 official languages in New Zealand and Te Reo Maori is one of them. It is the language of our indigenous population, the Maori. Another offical language is english, which is the language of this persons heritage. Our third official language is sign language, for our deaf and hard of hearing residents. We don't have a 'native' language and that terminology is kind of rude (over here, generally). We would call Te Reo Maori the language of the people of the land - the tāngata whenua. Fun fact - bird song is so beautiful in NZ it's called Te Reo irirangi o Aoteaora - the spiritual language of New Zealand :)

So happy I stumbled onto your channel! I'm from the US but had a spinal injury and the doctors here wouldn't do any further surgery on me. We found a surgeon in Bangalore that was 99%sure he would be successful and have me walking again. Thank God for him and the staff. Wish I had known a bit of their language prior but it was an emergency surgery, so had no time to learn. Spent about 4 months there and was treated like a queen. I felt as though I had to tip everyone that helped me outside of the hospital.. I was giving 20$ a day to my "Butler" and he said 20$ would pay for his entire family for one month. Anyways, love the country and hope to visit one day again but not on a medical visa. Your channel is lovely! 💗

I find this an interesting comment. If you go to most of Europe,/Asia,/Africa, they expect you to speak some of their language, at least just a few words, or they will think you are ignorant as you say. And most people will agree with this. But if people don't speak one word of English in America or England and then we think they are "ignorant" then we're just called racist.
