Secondly, buses in TN have always been a cut above even amongst the southern states buses, especially in terms of connectivity (even to small villages & towns), efficiency and affordability.

I'm a resident of Chennai and buses are my main mode of transportation even today.. In case you are planning to travel to cities overnight from Chennai like Bangalore or Coimbatore, you should try the AC sleeper buses! They cost around 1000-1500 and you can sleep through the night. They are a lifesaver, especially for last minute plans because train seats need to be reserved well in advance while these buses can be booked just a day in advance as well. P.S. Random bus fact - did you know that women and senior citizens get to travel for free in some buses in Chennai? 😝
