First of all Trump isn't against trade, he's against situations where the US has low tariffs on imports from a country and that country has high tariffs against us. Second it would be interesting to understand what this trade association thinks are "precautionary measures" that should be taken? Last but not least, I very much doubt that trade with Thailand is a big priority for the Trump admin, unless they are covering for Chinese companies by re-labeling their products as made in Thailand. If there is a lot of that going on, then those companies are likely to get sanctioned. But then again the Biden admin has been doing the same, so no real change in policy there. Notice that none of the items listed, except semiconductors, is a big issue in the US. And I'm pretty sure that Thailand isn't selling a lot of high-end semiconductors to the US market. Presumably most of what they make here a low-end embedded semiconductors, that are not a priority for trade "barriers".

The days of Thailand's ridiculous benefits from US trade imbalance is over. Thailand has been assessing 80% tariffs on American vehicle imports with abject arrogance. Now the tide has turned. All those Honda motorcycles exported into the US are going to get hit with a 100% tariff in return. Honda may go as far as moving production outside Thailand to avoid the loss in market share; The chickens are coming home to roost.

How the South China Sea dispute(s) are settled will be fraught with the danger of a regional war that could pull in the U.S. China extended its coastline about 1,300 kilometers by dredging and building up specks of land. Then they proclaimed that their history made these integral to mainland China. The UN said this is not true. Curiously, China AND Taiwan did not accept the UN's point of view.
