yoy will find lemon and chilli hanging at entrance of door and tied to vehicles. What my granpa use to tell us that these sour and longlasting cheapest sour things which people in india use to carry with them back in 16th or 17 th century. apart form the reasons mentioned by you another reason is that even at that time killing snake was prohibited in india because snake is also a very sacred ( ganesha's father wear snake around the neck). We even have a big nagpanchmi festival for snakes. ( there are different festivals for many animals and trees in hinduism ) There was also another rule in india to break and drink the coconut water and carry its flesh during any journey so that people will remain hydrated for the long journey and it was mandotory to start journey on pornima ( full moon day) and end before amavasya ( no moon day). There were no street light and airbnb so every village use to provide osari/aashrams which is free accomodation for travellers. In 21st century things changed but still people try to do few thing as much as possible. Even today in villages people burn neem leaves, lemon and ghee in the evening is common practice in rainy season to keep the reptiles away from home. I think people at that time made some laws and rules which were very important for their society and animals, trees, rivers were sacred in 'bharat warsh' ( todays india, pakistan, bangladesh and few east asian countries ). India always remained a spiritual country which so everything is somehow linked to culture and dhamra. Many people like me who lived in a village of just 260-280 people and moved to city ( 18 mn population ) have seen both traditional and modern sides and trying to learn more from the travellers like you !!

so interesting!! we do a lot of research to add info on our videos, but you know, it's not our main strength, and finding the sources and the right info take so much time, specially when you are new to that country/culture....So, we appreciate all extra info added. There is something special about udipi Shri Krishna Temple, legend says many hundred years ago, there was a devotee (Kanaka Das) who wanted to see(take Darshan) of Lord Krishna, but he was not allowed to see Lord Krishna, because he was of low caste (there was caste system back then in India). So, the GOD Lord Krishan became anrgy as his devotee was not allowed so, legend says the idol (vigraha) of Lord Krishna turned backwards so that his devotee coud see him.

Fantastic, even though I have visited Uduppi Sri Krishna Temple, we returned with out seeing Malpe one of the best beaches. Next time I have to visit. Another new information about the island with your vedio, that should also to be included in the bucket list. Thanks a lot for the information. By the way I fear you might not have seen the Marvanthe beach on the way to Uduppi from Gokarna as you have travelled by train. It is one of the world renowned beach where one side is beach, then the road and the adjacent is river Sowparnika. You just Google it and make it a point to visit if you missed.

Also you may see fox, peacocks, porcupines, rabbits, wild cats, forest comes to life at night. You can hear the forest insects in the night while sleeping. Why play a Hindhi song in a Karnataka video?
@LifetimeTravelmates
@LifetimeTravelmates 3 жыл бұрын
why not? actually there is a reason: we are quite ignorant about music made in India and our music provider has very limited options when searching for "Indian" music. Just a matter of copyright. We can't use music with copyright, and I'm afraid our music provider doesn't have any music in Kannada (or Tamil..etc.). We are stuck with Hindhi. Don't get offended, we don't intend to offend anyone. Just thought that music would fit better than...EDM, or hiphop or other available songs we have 😅 Anyway, we hope you enjoyed the video and hope to see your comments and feedback in other episodes! Thanks for watching!

@@LifetimeTravelmates Inaccuracy. That's why. Karnataka is a state where the native language is Kannada. It's understandable that foreigners like you equate Hindhi with India. But let me be the first to clarify that it's not so. Now, I can't speak for Northern India, but for us South Indians, Hindhi isn't our native language. It makes sense if you put Kannada music when you made a video about Karnataka. How accurate would it be if I made a video about Mexico and put English songs? I understand your copyright issue, I'm sure you can find some Kannada music without it. Same with your usage of Hindhi words in the description of the lemon-chilli thing. To conclude, Hindhi represents only those states that have it as a native language. Majority of India's states don't have Hindhi as a native language. Especially Southern India where all the languages have very less in common with Hindhi. To be more accurate, Udupi is a place filled with people who speak Thulu. It's more accurate if you could play Thulu songs. I also noticed that you also put your Instagram description link in Chinese or Korean or some Asian language right? Why do you that? You're making a video in English, why would you need another language besides English to be in your description of the links? If you know the answer, you just have to put me in your shoes and understand my point. Thank you for visiting Karnataka. 😇

I totally get your point. As foreigners, it's a bit overwhelming the diversity and rich culture we face when we start traveling in India. As you mention on your comment: It's understandable that foreigners like you equate Hindhi with India. Just like many foreigners coming to Spain don't know about its 5 official languages and cultural differences. You are not the first pointing the music matter, actually there is a lot of comments on this other episode: kzbin.info/www/bejne/onWXd6mhj5qlf68 Since we don't know Kannada or any other language spoken in India, we can't tell in what language a song is sung. Our music provider (Epidemic Sound) would get our appreciation if they offered more music from India in different languages. We try the best with what we have and can afford. If you find any music in Thulu, or Kannada or any other southern language, let us know! www.epidemicsound.com/music/search/ About your "How accurate would it be if I made a video about Mexico and put English songs?" Sadly we are all very exposed to English music and I wouldn't feel offended or anything if it was played on a video from Mexico, or Spain. Usage of hindi words in the lemon-chili thingy is just because that's all we knew at the time of making the video. We surely would do better research if we were doing it now. Sorry if that offended you in any way. We did our best with what we had available. The language on the instagram part that you see is Korean, it just says "follow our stories on instagram" (same it says in English on the other side). Hyekyong is Korean and we have family members and friends on Korea watching our videos (and they don't speak very good English). It's a small gesture to have them present and if you check, most of our videos have subtitles in Korean as well. And Spanish, since Jordi is Spanish. Video is in English because we both speak in English and to reach more audience. We just don't want to leave apart our native languages and our family and friends. We totally get your point, and trust us, we like to be accurate on our info. The music thing is not made on purpose and if we had Kannada or Thulu music available, we would happily use it. Thank you so much for your feedback and for watching our video. We hope those issues you pointed don't stop you from watching more of our contents! We are happy to have engaged viewers like you! 🙏

@@LifetimeTravelmates Yes, I understand that most foreigners are taken aback by the diversity in India, which is why I helped you find the one for Karnataka. Yes, as you're visiting another state in India, I assumed you'd already have Googled something about it, firstly the native/local language spoken, as that's what you need to talk to people. I understand that you don't know, I assumed you'd already have Googled it in the same way you learnt that Hindhi is spoken in India. I'm sure you'd have found some non-copyrighted Kannada/Thulu music. In this case, you simply could have not played any songs at all, believe me, I don't want to strain your wallet in anyway. It wasn't about being offended, it was just about being accurate. I'm surprised you knew Hindhi. I assume in the same way you can Google Translate the words for Lemon and Chilli. I assume you all had Google Translate. My point being, when you say stuff like "Nazar Bhattu" in a video about Karnataka or any other Southern Indian state, most of us native speakers of our languages won't know what it is. As you're making a video about us, even we'd watch to see your reactions & when you use Hindhi instead of Kannada, even we'd not understand. Not all who use KZbin are literate in terms of understanding English alphabets. So Kannada is something that all of us here can read and understand thus you reach a greater audience. Yes, as you used Korean because Hyekyong is Korean and would want to gain Korean audience and communicate with them, in the same sense, when you're making a video about Karnataka, you'd also have to cater to the host's audience as well, am I right? So that small gesture was what I was asking in videos about Karnataka, as we're also human beings in terms of languages used. I too don't want to leave my family, friends and my fellow Kannadigas especially when you're making a video about our state, city, people and culture. So, that small gesture to the host state is all I'm asking using just Google Translate and Google in general. I again understand that you weren't aware and even I get confused about languages, so I'm here to help you or any other foreigners who want to make a video about Karnataka or Southern India. Because other foreigners watching your videos will be properly informed and not misunderstand India or have misinformations. As your videos are a source of information for future travellers and people in general, I just wanted them to be accurate so there's no confusions. I hope you I was able to communicate well my intentions. 😄

Yes, you communicate well your intentions. Thanks a lot for your feedback! We've been improving on that. But yeah, back then, we didn't know much 😅 plus we are a 2 people team, traveling, working...we wish we could spend more time researching more and getting accurate information on everything and for every video. You see we like to inform and we don't like to miss-inform. So, we try not to go too deep in info and balance it with some entertainment images, etc. I see you commented in other episodes too! Thank you so much! See you soon!
