Actually perfectly ripe Jamun is sweet and there are different kinds of Jamun also. And i didn't like tal untill I crossed my teenage and also we eat when it ripe , the smell and taste of it is very strong. And bro tadi made out of the rus of the tree not the fruit , it can be other palm trees also like date rus and tadi is so famous in my state.

In Odia, Watermelon is Kharabujaw, Wax apple is Jamburoļaw, Wood apple is Tadhei/Taalaw Sajaw, Jamun is Jambu koļi, Jackfruit is Panasaw, Mango is Ambaw. The ļ is ळ in Marathi. My personal favorite is a Marathi/Konkani speciality, it's the Kokum fruit, I live for Solkadhi actually.

From Kolkata but live in Maharashtra. We get all these fruits there as well. But for mangoes, we get a lot more of other varieties and langda aam is my favorite. Hapus when I'm in Maharashtra.

The things is that West maharashtra(Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur) is different and Kokan is different... You'll rarely find Jackfruit in West Maharashtra... Because Jackfuit trees mostly grown well in Low elevation(500 M) and has Dry weather...

पेरु, करवंद, जांभूळ,आंबा,फणस, काजू, कोकम/कोकम सरबत, कोकंबे, ताडगोळे,जांब , रामफळ, पपई, कलिंगड, इत्यादी. पण जांभूळ, कच्ची कैरी आणि करवंद, आवळ यांना मीठ लावून नाय खाल्ल तर मजा नाय.

In bengali we call them Torbooj, Jamrool, Taalsaash, Kalo Jaam, Kathal, Aam. The best way to eat those Jaamuns are with a bit of salt. It just cuts the bitterness and makes it less sour but the flavour of the fruit just oozes out

पश्चिम महाराष्ट्रात, कोल्हापुरात राहून फणस कधी नाही खाल्लं म्हणजे आश्चर्य आहे. जांभळं पिकलेली असतील तर अतिशय रसाळ आणि मधूर लागतात. विकत मिळणारी बऱ्याच वेळेला अर्धी पिकलेली असतात आणि चांगली लागत नाहीत. शिवाय करवंद , आवळे, कंजूचं फळ, आहेतच .
