I use detailers solely for drying aids to cut down potential swirls. My favorite at the moment is DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss. Ridiculous slickness and a legitimate glow especially on darker paints but there is a lot of great one's Phoenix Titan, TW Ceramic Wet Wax, Lithium Ignite after wash, Lithium Color Crush, Xtreme Solutions Topper, Apex BC3, Apex Re-Hydra sheet.

Hard to justify any of those really. Use BH qd mixed 1 to 20 with di water. This qd also contains charged polymer to reduce scratches. But you can mix up a litre for like 50p. A Litre of the ones you list is like 20 quid or more.

I use Done and Dusted SI from Bouncer Wax. I like it, gives nice gloss and adds to the hydrophobic properties of the wax it is sitting on. I am aware that this channel has reviewed SI in a comparison and didn’t score the highest but as someone that cleans for fun and enjoys having a clean and shiny car I’m happy with it :)

I’ve recently started using Feynlab Pure Rinseless for those light cleaning jobs where you don’t want to get all the gear out and finishing with Feynlab Touchless Ceramic, used like a QD/drying aid. At £72/L it seems very expensive but diluted at 10:1 it works great and you only need a small amount per panel.

I don't often use a QD but I do have a few. My preferred one is Alien Magic Ceramic Detailer if I need to put some beadage back onto high traffic areas but I have also got their Graphene QD which is labelled their bead monster to try. I did use an SiO2 detailer on my cars interior previously and it was absolutely fantastic! such a silky satin finish on everything and it prevented finger prints on the touch screen for a while.

I have tons of bottles of Angelwax QED in the garage, in my first order (after watching your brand review) I ordered about 4 and they threw an extra one in free. Every order since I get one in free 😂 hence the stash! The first time I used it I hurled it on as you’d say, and noticed lots of streaking and smearing. I emailed and they just said to make sure I was using it as per the instructions which said to use it on a dry car. The newer bottles in the garage have subtly different instructions, I only spotted this recently, and it recommends applying to a wet car now… a light bulb came on when I spotted this and I tried it again - superb. So standard ops now is to wash the car then spray this on one area at a time and then dry with a drying towel. It gives a lovely oily slick feel to drying, and the gloss afterwards is lovely, the water repellency is lovely too, quite beady. Clearly no change in recipe since I’m still on with the early bottles having given up on it so soon, so I suspect it needs watering down really, or applying with water on the car, but it really is a standard thing now - love it, finally!

I’m probably doing it wrong or using the wrong product by after a full wash and dry I use a QD(Megs ultimate quick retailer) to deliver a hand buff which really transforms the finish. Probably due to living in a hard water area maybe but it’s a really essential to use it to get that proper shine (there’s a base lay of wax down anyway btw).

I very like Angelwax QED on a wet car as a supposed "drying aid" the car looks very reflective afterwards, subtle but noticeable. Also the Enigma QED once a month gives it some extra beading, but can be a bit smeary if you apply to much. Nowadays Angelwax have this Atomic QED which should have graphene in it but didn't try that one yet. Mitchel&King has his QD which is very slick and can go nearly on anything. In the summer time or when I have waterspots I use Koch Chemie FSE, applied on the proven "John Technique" (great vid btw John!!), waterspots gone and a shiny surface instead. There are so many, and in my opinion it has become the detailers wine or whiskey collection 😂

The first minute's story is exactly why I wouldn't get a true ceramic coating. I'm like you, I use BHQD. but I have another few, angelwax enigma qd for one. P&S Dream Maker, is it a quick detailer? I'm a bit confused by it, it leaves no protection but is a gloss enhancer? Could I use this to help dry my car and go straight to the polishing stage? @Roughdraft214

I love dream maker as well but would not use anything with gloss enhancers or waxes prior to a polish. You want as clean of a surface as possible. I even avoid car washes with the word brilliant or gloss which normally serves a good purpose but it costs the car with the gloss enhancers. Yes I would consider dream maker to be an LSP/QD.

Jon, There is a newer brand in the US called Phoenix EOD who makes a QD/sealant called Titan. This stuff is amazing! It is applied just like your demonstration providing incredible slickness and gloss. Titan is less about cleaning and more about protecting over most QD’s. If you can get your hands on a bottle in the UK, or reach out to the company to send you some, I highly recommend it. I found it addicting just after using my first 8oz bottle, so I went out an bought a gallon jug. It’s easy to use as a QD, but gives more lasting protection. I actually use it very sparingly as a QD for my final drying towel. Get some if you can!

I was using CarPro Elixir on the freshly restored and ceramic coated paintwork of my Mk5 R32, at £25 per litre... ...but then I read what Elixir is made up of, went a bit bonkers and bought Reload, Ech2o, and Hydro2 all in 4 litres of concentrate and 20 litres of distilled water, which cost me an arm and a leg (and then some), used 40ml of each product in a litre sprayer topped with the distilled water...and now my homemade Elixir costs me £6.49 per litre. Not bad eh!! Only thing is, it cost me £574 for all the products and water in bulk!! Bonkers!!! But just look at the savings for my lifetime supply of QD!!!! Have you tried the Solo 46001 460 Li Battery Pressure Sprayer that might be worth a look at as it would save your hand Squeezing the sprayer trigger on the iK sprayer plus the head can be used on most bottles if you didn’t like the bottle on the solo sprayer 😁👍 take a look at one 👍

An overlooked concept these days! Most people get confused with them and spray sealants, where for me, a QD has to have the ability to clean, so is lubricated and thus can be a clay lube. Beyond that, any protection should be pretty light and not interfere with the base protection so that you should always know when that starts to fail. I also like BH Auto QD diluted down to 1:10, very pleasing. Diluted rinseless washes (with or without protection) are useful QD’s particularly as clay lubes, cleaners and drying aids. Of course, Koch Chemie Fse is also a staple for its cleaning abilities and very light protection that can rejuvenate clogged coatings.

Y'all should really research the waterless b*******... This product is generally for garage kept, barely driven show cars that do not accumulate excessive or even moderate Road grime.

There is no one single definition of a quick detailer….it can mean a whole heap of things that overlap and generally causes confusion. The best guide is YOU and your common sense. I use Gyeon’s Ceramic Detailer as it compliments the EVO coating 👌
