I've got a1992 vw golf m1 clipper karman convertible, it's got the electric roof and windows from factory ,I've had the car over 10yr and I was rebuilding it slow but after leaving a 10yr toxic abusive relationship 😢I'm homeless now and the project is on hold 😢it's shame I can't ever see me getting the car on the road that car has history 😢. It's very difficult was homeless for 1 Yr and now just manged to get cheap caravan but nothing works😢 so very cold 😢 so shame nice classic car I will never finish 😢

It’s in a similar state to this one and I hope I will, one day, get round to using all the skills and tips I’ve learnt from your channel to clean it up; I only hope I can get it looking as good as this one!

Nice BBS.' They look like RE090/ style 5's in BMW land. I refinished mine, and a few other sets for customers. I had the 18" staggered version I ran on my E34 540/6's. 32 bolts hold the centers to the barrel. I used paint stripper then polished them all the way from like 220-1500 grit. Then used Emory, Tripoli, White Rouge compounds on my drill with flannel buffing wheels. They came out flawless but without a clear coat designed for raw aluminum, or treating them with something like Zoopseal (metal sealant,) they need to be buffed constantly to avoid water spots. If you put the effort in polishing, and keep up on them they shine like mirrors. You can buy different style bolts, powdercoat the centers or barrels, etc. The options are limitless with these wheels. They would look good on this mk1 with some white centers IMO. Here in the states rust free mk1 chassis that aren't all hammered are becoming harder and harder to find. Now it just needs an 02J/ LSD/ 1.8t swap with a 3071 strapped to it 👍😁

Brilliant!!! I've owned every GTI from the MK1 to the MK8 (from a young lad to an old codger). I have to say the MK1 was slow, unreliable, smelly, noisy etc. BUT it is still the one I remember most. I've actually never thought of buying an old one again but at £7K you've put a thought into my head - I'd be tempted. She's an absolute beaut!!!!
