0:50 so that's why i wasn't counteringvwith foresight slash i never knew i needed a pixel of spirit gauge to actually counter i was wondering why I'm not getting a counter half the time even if i can visually tell that i timed it correctly I'm still new to the weapon.

Probably way too late on this but I’ll answer for any future people too. I would say it’s best to polish in multiple monsters. That way you don’t get too accustomed to that specific monster and can’t foresight against anyone else. Personal thoughts. I’m working through every weapon in rise.

I see so many things regarding foresight slash that just make my hair stand up. Being able to change the directions to turn your back to the monster should be an instant death but this is the way to do it here. I can't get my head around it. I constantly keep pressing W to have my char move and attack towards the camera, since I point it to where I want to hit. For me, the controls are the biggest enemy in this game. I get hit so many times because I am confused by what my character is doing, I can't even begin counting how many times I died because of that. I bought this game a week ago and I really can't get myself to solo anything and have fun at that.

How come I can't connect Spirit Roundslash after foresight slash? Do I need to successfully dodged an enemy's attack with foresight slash first then I will be able to do Spirit Roundslash? Thanks!!

Yes exactly! You need the Guard Point triggered to be able to do it.

It does not effect the actual Counter timing... but you do get more I- frames on your Foresight Slash

Main issue I keep getting is I'll do a stab, or a swipe, wait a moment for their attack... press RT+B (xbox controller) and instead of the Foresight Slash; 50/50 chance it'll just do a normal Spirit Slash; and I end up dead. x.x I''m still well within the jabs hold posture after the attack where I've had the foresight work.. but it just randomly seems not to work half the time Any way to help stop that happening?

So foresight slash in rise has no s and no point during the backstep where an attack wont juggle cart you. what gives? this is why LS (and tbh most weapons) are better in World. I want to like rise but its nothing but a huge dissapointment. its really bad.

Longsword got a huge buff compared to Iceborne... and I'm not sure what you mean... Foresight Slash has a huge I-frame window actually.

You need to counter an actual attack and get the guard point (blue flash) to be able to go into Roundslash/Reckoning.

You need to trigger the guard point (blue flash) by dodging an Attack in order to be able to roundslash.

A bit of criticism if you will: It's nice, but for a guide it's a bit "light" on the actual guide part. Ability to cancel Foresight with Helmbreaker or Special Sheath is not mentioned, and while you did have a separate video on those, I'd say it's better to have them in the guide itself, rather than just a link in the comment. Also, example hunt is nice, but I think it's a bit better to show use cases for this ability specifically - like you did in your other video, rather than just forcing it even though there are other options available. So I think clips with uses for the ability from a normal hunt are a bit better for demonstration. And also you don't mention the "inverted" controls for Foresight backstep, and this can be a little bit hard to get used to.

Sucks that your character actually has to get hit now, rather than where your character used to be + where it currently is. But it makes it more challenging i guess, mostly because I have to adjust now lol. Its like going from ds3 to sekiro.

This move is pretty much useless tbh. With iai spirit slash being as strong as it is (+1 spirit gauge EVERY counter) and quick sheath 3 being actually quick, foresight slash is high risk no reward. Sacrificing your whole spirit bar for the chance of gaining your bar back is mechanically backward.
