Brian Clough was a legend, but what a character Mark Crossley is. He was a great goalkeeper, and as a die hard Forest fan I think he was the second best keeper we ever had after Peter Shilton. Great interview, telling it as it is, non of this bloody pc crap. Quite appropriate, one of my best mates played under Cloughie at Derby, so I’ve had a few insights & amusing anecdotes. What Ricky did say is that Taylor was the real football brains behind their success but Cloughie cud man manage. But, boy, was he a character. unforgettable and not a nasty man, from the stories I’ve been told he enjoyed the banter and he had to be his way. Pity there aren’t more individuals like him this is the age of zero Charisma, he definitely had it. I loved the story of Wee Archie running the line, i came close to playing alongside him when he was at St Mirren, I played for a provincial club & they were approached by a scout for St Mirren to see if they wud release me for trials with them but the club wouldn’t agree. That’s another side of football I’m afraid. The club was approached by scouts from other senior clubs in Scotland & also Woolwich Arsenal & Millwall. But we’re intent on keeping a hold of me. I was a goalkeeper. Loved the Goalkeeping, still do.
@geoffpoole483 Жыл бұрын
Brian Clough said something like he was "the shop window" and Peter Taylor was "the goods in the back". These days managers/head coaches have media training hence the lack of memorable quotes from press conferences. He did make some errors in signing players, notably Justin Fashanu but so does every manager.
