Great stuff winning the first local and the effort. Keep the prize in a special place, I still remember my first one in 1986 for most improved runner in cross country league over a season, sadly it went in the bin years ago, but I have retained many other medals.
@TheFODRunner3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, yes although its not a podium medal or anything like that, I said to my wife before I left i'd love to be first local runner to finish and I achieved it so i'm quite pleased! These little awards give you a good confidence boost dont they and like yours, they stick in the memory!

Well done Andy. A brilliant run and I hope you recover well. I ran yesterday and was well behind you and just squeezed under 1.59. That was a tough first half - marginally easier in the second half. I love your birds eye camera view and the course looks great, I however had loads of others around me and am a lot shorter 🤣 but none the less it was fantastic running those trails that we regularly see you training on.
@TheFODRunner3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Claire, well done you, thats fantastic! Its a tough but enjoyable course isnt it, those hills in the first half to take it out of you a fair bit!!

Great work mate. Good time on a trail half. I raced a trail half on Saturday with 2000 feet of climb, then Sunday did a 7.5 mile/1200 feet climb leg of a trail relay. My legs are somewhat stiff this morning.

I simply use dates for fuel whether running or cycling. Brought me back from low blood sugar faster than any gel I’ve used in the past & lasted longer! Also a whole plant food & super healthy full of fibre too. Easy to pop into your mouth on the go, just make sure you slide the stone out one end before you store it for the journey..Gels do not compare in my experience..
@TheFODRunner3 жыл бұрын
Thats awesome to hear, a few people have mentioned in the past they use dates to fuel!

Great race Andy, well done ! So are you running more races this year than normal ? Coming out of the Covid era, are you grabbing every race you can ! Great to watch. How many races do you run in a year normally ?
@TheFODRunner3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yeah just literally grabbing what I can, I normally run 10/12 a year and this year will be about the same, I’m just cramming them all in this second half due to the drought of races in the first half!

Thinking of booking for this year... Have a pair of souconey Pro 3s with only around 70 miles on them... Do you think they would handle these trails... Or better of using somthing like my triumph 20 for more grip... My half marathon pace is around 7.30 a mile. Thanks Ben
@TheFODRunner Жыл бұрын
I’d avoid a carbon plate, some sections are a bit rocky! I used the speeds with a nylon plate and they were fine… I rolled my ankle badly in the pro 1 on those trails and done it a few times in other plated shoes on similar trails so I avoid them now unless completely flat buffed out trails!
