I have a lot of time for people choosing to run bucket list races easy. Of course these big races are an awesome goal that you can use to motivate yourself to train for that PR, and let the excitement and energy carry you. Equally I understand people wanting to enjoy the race and not be in the pain cave, and remember the experience. When my partner and I do hard long runs together she (faster than me) often goes “remember X on the run?” And I have no recollection. I get wanting to remember every bit of that bucket list race. I guess what I’m trying to say is that people should value and enjoy the experience however they choose.

It’s good to hear a runner being sensible, rather than going out and training hard all the time. Kudos to you. I’m easing myself back after the NY marathon and it was hard going earlier. HR definitely much higher for the easy pace I was going. Legs also didn’t feel smooth and felt sore. I’m sure it will all come together in time. I’m looking forward to taking pressure off myself in the upcoming year and going back to enjoying running without any goal races in mind. Keep up the good work.

One recommendation (something I have not been asked for) for November would be the Behobia/San Sebastián: 20 km from the Franco-Spanish border to the city of San Sebastián. If you are considering doing it, it is a good opportunity for family tourism, and to get to know part of the gastronomy of that part of Spain.

Hi, just watched you for the first time and there were some interesting points you raised. I’m a 50 something female runner, who likes to run for health and fitness. Been running regularly since 2016. I do a few running events a year and Parkrun sometimes. As I have a flat foot and ankle issue, I look for stability shoe reviews in particular, but there aren’t all that many that go out, as narrower racy shoes are more favoured by influencers it seems. I find Ben Parkes reviews quite good and he did a review of shoes for heavier runners which hit the spot. As I’ve subscribed to you, I look forward to seeing your reviews and hope there’s something in the stability sphere for me and other wide/flat footed runners out there.

I think you’ve made some great points in this video and the key thing is that you make it clear you have a desire to see others do well with their running. That should mostly be the goal for people who are making content around running. I think it’s great to see the joy running can bring to people, and I think too many of the running ‘influencers’ are only concerned with being the first to get something, or like Matt Choi has done, want to get their content out no matter how it impacts the other runners around them. Showing such disregard for other runners in any event shows that someone is not properly a member of the running community in my opinion
@TheFODRunner2 күн бұрын
Thanks 👊 absolutely 💯 the key is to make sure everyone is enjoying the sport on a level playing field
@davidg613 күн бұрын
Great video Andy. You make a good point about some creators just running a little bit in a shoe, then giving a definitive judgement. On that basis though, do you think it's okay that we (could) have slower runner creators who instead focus on the amount of time they've run in the show, and not some arbitrary initial number (normally seems to be 50km)? At the same time, I always enjoy the longer term reviews, as they give a better idea of the durability and consistent performance of the shoe. Related to that, I'd love if there were more "casual" runner creators (probably an oxymoron), so that I can get a better feel of whether a shoe will work for a slower, heavier runner like me. Any recommendations?
@TheFODRunner2 күн бұрын
Thanks! Oh yes absolutely… 100 miles for a marathon runner compared to 100 miles for a 5k runner, regardless of pace, would also be a much bigger ask for a long term review, so working based on “time on feet” is definitely an option! I think that’s a solid idea
