With such a soft EVA based foam i fear the NB5 will go flat quite prematurely.......

I only had a Nike Pegasus 40 and Hoka Mach 6. Funnily I use my Mach 6 as speed shoes 😂 Hoping to get Novablast 5 soon as my daily and will retire my Pegasus. Don't think I'll get any new dedicated speed shoes until 2026.

I’ve got 330 miles in my Clifton 9s, and just bought a pair of Mach 6s to slowly phase the old pair of shoes out. Haven’t tried them out, but finished my half marathon a few days ago and I’m recovering. Excited to see I made an excellent choice!!
@PatrickStar_242 күн бұрын
The Speed 4 is my favorite shoe in my line up. It's not bouncy at all but the speed roll technology makes it so nimble and quick. It's definitely different than the pro 4 which I also own. I think it's perfect for what it's designed for. The only downside for me is that I can't do anything over 10 miles in it because my feet start to hurt with the lower stack than what I'm use to. I would recommend it if you prefer turnover over bounce. I think it would also make a good 5k shoe but I've never tried the Takumi Sen 10 which I hear is the best for that distance.

Only one of these I have is Mach 6, though I do have the Speed 3. Took me a while to warm to the Mach 6 as I loved the Mach 5 and the 6 is a very different ride. What I have found is that the Mach 6 is the closest thing I have to the Triumph 20, which I used mainly for medium and long runs with workouts thrown in. I can do the same runs in the Mach 6, though it is a bit softer, especially in the heel.

Picked up running again a few months ago, went from a GT-2000 10 to a GT-2000 13 once the 10s went flat. I'm not fast at all but have been looking for a faster shoe to do sprint work or some faster intervals. Would this be a good option for that or is this perhaps too unstable, and also how important is stability when you start getting into more sprinting style paces :? Here in South Africa have some interesting colourways on the NB5

I'll take the Saucony Speeds over the Novablast 5 any day. If you're a forefoot striker, the Novablast is just flat and hard to forefoot strike, striking at the midfoot -- fine for a slow day, but definitely not for any fast running.
@eagle63-942 күн бұрын

Have NOVABLAST 5,Mach 6, pro 4, noosa 15’s in my rotation. Love the reviews throughout the year. Mach 6 is definitely a standout and for the faster workout sessions for me (sub 6:30 miles) the pro 4 saucony work great for me.

I guess for us with large UK 13 feet a "daily trainer" might have a different meaning to those with more average size feet. I have got all of these but yet to run in the NB5 although interestingly one of my two pairs (ordered two sort of by mistake) is only about 315g whereas the other pair is like your ones and about 327g. Based on how found previous Novablast would say it is more of a "classic" daily trainer whereas the other three all feel more like lightweight trainer/racers that you could use "daily" if you so wished but feel like shoes for going "faster than easy". Of the three have run by far the most in the Speed 4 and found it generally "fine" but maybe now it just does not stand out when there was very little like in the days of the Speed 1. Indeed did a shoeoff between 1 and 4 and results pretty much the same. I wonder with SL2 that you really "need" a 0.5 size more and 90 mins minus the insole am not surprised that it did not feel A1 great. For some reason I rarely found myself reaching for the SL2 or Mach 6. On the Hoka drop maybe the 5mm puts me off and I noted the newer Cliftons are going to have higher drop than the standard 5mm. Was unclear why as 5mm and Hoka were kind of what you expect and no doubt many love that. SL2 I think it is a case of get what you pay for which isn't much and I did struggle with it being "too neutral" in a period when felt needed more support. Based on a shoeoff using Speed 4, SL2, Mach 6 I would say the Speed 4 is the "fastest" for me but not a huge amount in it and maybe just fits me better although did notice some irritation on my Achilles. TBH these all gathering dust now got the Zoom Fly 6 which isn't a "daily trainer" - might use the Pegs for some nice easy miles LOL but ZF6 just seems to fit me nice and is nearly as fast as a proper race shoe like the Vaporfly.

I’m 191cm and 88kg with EU47 shoes. I’m not as fast as you or Andy but the Mach 6 has been really great. Fell into the positive reviews here. Runrepeat measured a 9mm drop, so not sure what’s right. It’s got more torsional rigidity than my ES3 so feels better running across Dutch sand dune trails and it’s fun picking up the pace.

SL2: Upper too coarse, fit too narrow. (Nope) Mach 6: Good fit with wide, but somehow my feet felt strain when standing in it.(risk not taken) Speed 4: Firm but comfortable. Waiting for discounts… NB 5: too much foam and too soft for me. I’ll take a discounted Adios Pro 3 over this. Really wanted the Mach 6 to work…. Too bad.

I don't know if it's my mechanics but Novablast 5 being mellowed out makes it even a better daily trainer than the previous one. If you need something to do faster paces then you can just go for ES4 or Superblast

I love pairing the novablast with the speed. They make a great combo depending on what i am doing. My only issue is i love the speeds the roll off foot is sensational. But they don't love my heels. I alway get blisters once i go over an hour in them. Will be switching it up next year to either the mach7 or Hyperion depending on your's and others reviews.

Not sure the nb5 is in the same category as the rest, would consider it a daily trainer, not a super trainer any more. Everyone has different views.

Great review. My favs are the SL2s for their comfort, speed, versatility, and Novablast 5 for their lightness and smaller profiles (than the Novablast 4s). Haven't tried on the Speed 4s. Interestingly, Mach 6 felt dull to me when I tried them on in store.

i find it rather difficult, all i try to do, run today in a way i also would run, if i knew i would be dead tomorrow, in other words, don`t leave anything on the table, enjoy the day as good as you can and have no regrets whatsoever. At the same time in the back of my head is the start of my section hike across Germany next September, where i want to be in good enough shape to enjoy the experience ........so i wiggle my toes eavery morning when i wake up, live like a running pro, enjoy every minute i got, and don`t do anything I don`t want to do ..closing in on..new pr in distance covered in one year

Just a frustrating year. I didn't have a running injury but some health issues that derailed my running.
