Love is the central theme in the latest novel by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. Throughout the book, Sita discovers and explores different forms of love. She understands that love is dynamic, it's ever changing. Love doesn't have a shape, it is like a fluid, it flows without restrictions, and can fit in any shape whatsoever. Sita explored how love can make you do things that nothing else can. She realises that love is powerful yet makes you so fragile and helpless. Love is about endurance, compromise, and sacrifice for her. But what about the love one holds for themselves? What about a person's abhimaan? The epic Ramayana has many layers, and retelling it from the perspective of Sita is risky and courageous. Could Chitra Banerjee do justice to Sita? I have talked about everything in the video, and I hope you will like this video, if you do then please don't forget to Like, Share, and Subscribe to my channel. It will mean the world to me.

I feel Divakaruni had to back up all of Sita's actions in the actual epic with proper and appropriate thoughts that would explain her actions, rather than portray Sita in the way we or Divakaruni herself would like to see. If she stemmed too much away from the actual epic, I think it would not have been appropriate... So I kind of understand where Divakaruni came from in portraying her like that😅 In Mahabharata, in the epic itself, Draupadi was like that... Bold, questioning... So Divakaruni could and had portrayed her like that, I guess...

Agreed!! Though we might end up comparing Sita with Draupadi at times, but they had their uniqueness in their characters.. also, it's not that Sita didn't question, Sita had her own way of questioning. Divakaruni didn't diverge from the main story, lest it sounds artificial.. he kept the entire thing quite believable..

I respect your "I didn't like" but I felt that review is amateur and you should understand that fiction (like this) has limitations of contemporary society.

Omg I just feel you are little bit obsessed with Rama 😂😂... I'm glad that you read this book, thanks for making an episode on this, I have so many questions to ask you, I don't know how you judged this book, but all I can say "if she can understand Draupadi don't you feel she can understand Seeta?" Such a big book it is, don't you feel she has answered all your questions?? I know very less about Rama and Seeta but all I know is that Sita's life was Rama, if this is your first book of Ramayana that you're reading, if you haven't read Ramayana through Rama as main focus then you must first have read it before reading Seeta's perspective... Because if a person reads Seeta' s point of view knowing nothing about Rama then the person feels Rama is cruel man .. I bet lot many of us don't know Rama properly, for the person he was, his ideology, his values , his thoughts... All they know about him was there was king , he was sent to jungle , he fought against Raavana to bring back Seeta that's it .. people like Asaram Bapu never let us know about Rama, these Godmen are everywhere , all they thought us about Rama was he was king who spent all his life in chanting "सीते सीते", overAll I'm glad I'm so glad that you read this book, thanks for making an episode on this book, youngsters largely don't understand these mythological characters ... It's the need of the hour that we understand them instead of chanting jai shree ram just to spread hatred. Thanks

No, I definitely don't hate Ram. And I have read and watched different interpretations of Ramayana and Ram's character is pretty complex yet so clear. And Chitra Banerjee wrote in her acknowledgment that she was concerned that while caring for Sita people might end up hating Ram. Hate and love should not be assorted that easily to characters. 😊❤️

Also, the ending is a lot different from the actual ramayana. It mentions that ram called out for another Agni pravesha. But it's no where in the Ramayana. Is that it or was it just mentioned to enhance the readers interest ?

I'm reading forest of enchantments now... Just saw your vdo... I wanted the same where Sita questions Ram for the injustice to her... It was little disappointing to know that has never happened in this book as usual.... Still i would like to continue with the book and see for myself how i feel about the book... Thank you... Your video has given a slight insight of wat not to expect while reading the book and just enjoy as such... 😊 I've read palace of illusions... Kavita kane books... Could u suggest other books?
